You do not receive any visa for marriage. You could apply for non immigrant O visa to visit wife however and if qualified extend your stay up to one year at a time (40k per month income or 400k in Thai bank account 2 months).

You could not work in Thailand without an employer providing paperwork to allow a work permit to be issued. So not much different than being single in that process.

There's a bit of contradiction there, no?

To get a non-immigrant (O) Visa and stay up to a year, you need 40k income per month. But you can't work in Thailand on a (O) Visa afaik?

@trebor1970:As far as I know, since you are not married yet, your options are Tourist Visa (TR) or Non-Immigrant for Business (B).

For the latter you need, as lopburi3 mentioned, an employer in Thailand who can vouch for you.

Yes you can with a Work Permit. :)

That it awesome!

I was under the impression it was impossible to get work permit if one had a (O) for visiting spouse/family.

Makes my life much easier. :>

the 40 k could come from your pension, equity dividends, rental income, etc, etc. It just can't come from working in Thailand without a work visa. Your embassy will provide a letter stating that you have at least 40k of income per month. Some embassies want proof of the income before they draft the letter. Some just draft the letter based on your word that you have that income.

The 400k option can also be used (once he gets married).

Either option ( after marriage ) will require an exit from Thailand and a process for obtaining the non immigrant O visa from a Thai consulate out side of Thailand.

Actually it would not require an exit as those who qualify for one year extension of stay but without the non immigrant visa entry can obtain such a visa entry from Immigration inside Thailand at a cost of 2,000 baht.

did not know that.

arrive on tourist visa. get married. run the process. pay 2k baht. Receive non immigrant O without leaving the country.

Am totally confused here !!

Within this threads posts there is an advert advising assistance for Non Immigrant Visas for UK nationals who are married !

Surely these Visas are available for applicants in the UK who apply with appropriate marriage docs to UK based consulates ??

Are these advertisors advising for free ??

I've just sent off the fee plus marriage documentation to the Cardiff consulate in the UK-Is there something that I'm totally missing ??

In the past I've always held tourist visas ??

No, you're not missing anything. These "Ads by Google" are served up by Google, and they are not free.

Sorry you misunderstand and thats my fault.

The adverts dont charge than for advice for this visa ?? Or do they ??

Surely they cannot be fee paying for something that is free normally, other than the standard application fee ?

In otherwards is someone charging potential fees for a visa thats available to all eligdable applicants anyway ?

Yes they are - as any such business does - if you want someone to hold your hand or help fill out a form it comes with a fee. If you want to do it yourself you do so. We are providing the answers to questions and this will allow most people to do most of the less complex functions without paying for help - but it will vary from person to person. For more complex issues such as business start up and such it probably would be worthwhile to use a legal firm to help keep paperwork in order (but if doing this you also can not assume all such firms are equal).

For obtaining a non immigrant O visa for marriage is a simple process. But it is not something you automatically get by marriage (which was the original post) - but something you would then qualify to obtain if you so desired.
