I would be very appreciative for some advice as I am not computer savvy. I am moving home soon. My current ISP is maxnet TTT and the billing comes from them now named Triple T. I also have a maxnet email used for Outlook Express. There is a modem and when I moved to my present address I needed to take the modem to the TTT office to have them enter various coordinates. My connection is via my phone line.

Now: when I move to my new place the owner is putting in for me an external telephone line(TOT) and separately Internet(True).

I will likely find a technician to do the installation for me, but is a new modem needed? If so will coordinates need to be entered ? Do I have to get the ISP to do that or can a technician do it if I have the codes?

How will the change in ISP affect my TTT email? Anything else I should be aware of?

Many thanks for any advice!

You can use the one supplied by your ISP or get your own. Whatever floats your boat. :) If you choose the latter, you'll need to obtain connection information (VPI/VCI numbers) from your ISP and configure your modem/router accordingly.

A technician can do it all for you as long as he/she has all the required information.

There are no coordinates. They are settings.

If they are installing ADSL for the internet and they install an RJ11 (standard phone line) outlet, you can use your current modem. However it will be needed to be configured with the settings given to you by True. A technician who just runs wires probably can't set it up. You need someone who knows how to configure routers/modems.

You are changing to True. AFAIK True doesn't provide an email service and your TTT account will be disabled. You will need to set up an new email account.

Hotmail or Google Mail are two popular free email providers. If you use an email client, you will need to set it up for your new email account.
