Nation Multimedia Group (NMG) yesterday officially launched orientation for its Summer Experience 2011 project for 93 students at Nation University's Yonok campus in Lampang province.

The university provides courses in several subjects including journalism which is NMG's strongest arena and one of the reasons it took over the Yonok College, NMG's chief executive officer and chairman Thanachai Theerapatvong told the press yesterday.

Apart from academic results, Nation University aims to provide mental peace and physical well-being for students via meditation sessions in the morning and sporting and physical education courses in the evening, he said.

So far, 93 students have been selected for the "Summer Experience 2011", which will introduce them to the first academic session.

The orientation course, which began on Monday and ends on June 17, will provide students with "out-of-classroom" lectures by NMG executives and news people on various subjects including marketing, media management, public speaking and speech performances.

After the session ends, four students and two guest lecturers will be awarded a free trip to South Korea. This free course will be held each year with 100 selected students taking part.

The students will also go on a four-day, three-night trip to Bangkok to witness first-hand how media professionals do their jobs at the NMG headquarters.

Thanachai said lectures at Nation University's Bangkok campus would be no different from those given in Lampang. Live broadcasts of key lectures or events at both campuses will be fed and viewed at both locations.
