Will Need To Do Visa Run From Uttaradit

Featured Replies

Will be moving to wife's village shortly and need to do visa runs from there.

As it's near Laos, I presume I can do the run to there.

Do I need to get a visa before crossing into Laos, or can I just go to the nearest border crossing and get a visa on arrival ( British passport ) or permit to stay?

Do I have to pay to go into Laos, and if so, how much?

Do I need photographs?

Thanks for any advice.

Moved to Thai visas etc.

Moving to Amphur Muang?

Take a look at driving up through Nan Province to the top end and the border crossing to Laos at Huey Khon (note, various spellings on different maps), Chaloem Phra Kiat District. This is an international border crossing point.

Visa On Arrival for Laos is available, baht 1,400 I think. If you have some U.S. $$$, they may also take it, not sure, but would be $35 as at Nong Khai. I've crossed here to visit Hong Sa and Xieng Lom/Hon in Laos.

An alternative might be at Amphur Tha Li in Loei Province but I don't know if they have Visa On Arrival or not, further research needed.

Laos visa price depends on your nationality, but around 35$. Apply for at the border.

Since Mae Sot is still closed, Nan will be the shortest distance. Suspect about 4 hour drive to the border. If you want to make it a short holiday trip, Mai Sai (Chiang Rai) is very nice but abot 6 to 7 hours away.
