OK,

maybe someone here can help with this one as I am getting a lot of conflicting answers on line.

I am travelling back to the UK shortly to visit family - I have UK passport and is valid for another 5 years, so no problems here.

My son, who is 10 is going with me - here is where I am a bit unsure of the rules.

He has two passports - 1 Thai and 1 UK.

I understand he can use the "most suitable" to enter/ exit either Thailand or the UK.

The thing is, neither passport is valid for another 6 months, i.e. The Thai passport runs out in September, but this also has a Right of Abode, for the UK.

His UK passport runs out in October.

I keep hearing stories about travellers being refused boarding to certain countries if they do not have 6 months validity on their passport?

Anyone travelled in a similar situation as this?

I cannot see a problem as if he has a UK passport, then he is simply returning to the UK on his UK passport, and when he leaves the UK he is simply returning to Thailand on his Thai passport.

All of our travel will be completed before mid July.

Thanks!

You can get a new Thai passport in 10 days. when in the UK get an Express passport application , cost more but quicker.

Can get a new Thai passport in about 3-4 days at Chang Wattana, if you go down to pick it up yourself.

Your son doesn't need to have six months remaining on his UK passport to enter the UK, in fact he can enter the UK on an expired UK passport. If you have time it might be better to renew his UK passport whilst you are there, for cost reasons alone, it's far cheaper than renewing in Hong Kong.

Also it's worth noting that the UK does not require six months validity on a Thai passport, though it's worth taking the advice of others and get a him a new Thai passport before you travel.

Thank you, you have answered my question!

I thought that was the case, but I just needed one extra voice to help me go and click on my BUY NOW BUTTON for the flight on Wednesday!

Much appreciated.
