Hello Folks,

Arriving in Bkk January 6th and need a good hotel for around 1000bt. Have not been in Bkk for 5 years and need to know what kind of difference the skytrain has made to getting around the city?

Any info greatly appreciated.

You are coming at the height of the tourist season. Hotel rooms are scarce. I recommend you do some web searches for availabily in the price range you want. Try a google for Bangkok hotels - the first hit I got was http://www.modernthailand.com/bangkok-hotels/. Usually you get a good rate with Internet booking.

The skytrain is only within the city limits. If you go for a hotel that is on the outskirts, you will only be able to use the skytrain when you are in the city. Skytrain used to have some sort of pickup service, but not sure if they still do.
