What is the minimum amount of cash or in the bank do I actually need to prove to immigration that I can sustain my visit..."

I will be flying into BKK from Tokyo...I have a ticket from BKK to Phnom Penh that I am not going to use because friend is meeting me in BKK...I will only be spending 4 days at the most in Thailand. He purchased the ticket so I would have proof of leaving the country to satisfy the immigration people. Also...what is this round trip ticket thing I keep hearing horror stories about...? I have heard of people not being allowed on there initial flight because they do not have a return ticket...I am in need of these questions to be answered...I am boarding United Ailines this coming Sunday 17TH in route to Japan and then BKK...Please help...anyone...? Thank you so much...

I believe you will be given a 30 day of stay on arrival you need an on going ticket during that 30 day period. Some airlines at point of departure may not allow you to board your flight without a departure during the 30 days. You could be denied arrival in Thailand and then the airline would have to fly you back to your depature location. Your ticket to Cambodia should be ok to satisfy the airline at departure.

I have never been aske for any proof of money for a 30 day visa exempt arrival. I have been asked for proof when applying for a 90 day non- o.

Do you have a copy of your Cambodian ticket to show at your airline upon departure.

I have the flight reservation number and confirmation number...my printer is down ..so I can't print it out....can I just give them the number for the Cambodia ticket at my departure point ? (Dulles In DC) or can I give it to immigration in BKK...? They should be able to help me correct...? Meaning print it out for me...The ticket is through Bankok Airways...Thank you so much Moe...Peace...

Nowadays, all flight tickets are electronic, meaning that the six-digit airline confirmation number from your electronic ticket receipt is by itself enough to check in for a flight. Carrying a printout of the electronic ticket is optional but advisable, but in your case, with the printer out of order, it is understandable that you can't print it out.

Example of airline confirmation number:

Thanks Maestro...I have been sent a itinerary from my friend who made the reservation from Cambodia through my email...No where on this email are there any 6 digit numbers...I have a reference # and a reservations #...Both of which are 13 and 16 digits respectively. I have tried to enter both numbers separately in the proper box to confirm for my self, but it gives me a error message stating it is "the wrong format"...I suppose this goes back to a missing "6 digit " number..I have such a head ache...oh...and of course,Bangkok Air does not have a 800 number to call...and as fate would have it...My dear friend is leaving for Bangkok Tuesday am and headed to Phukett then back to get me on Monday...Still wondering if the nice people at Dulles would be kind enough to check it and print it for me...(asking toooo much) Hope he brings his lap top..Thanks again...Ted.

If they ask just give them the numbers and say here is my reservation on Bangkok Airlines. Immigration will not do it for you no printers at the desk and your problem will be not allowed on flight leaving US.

I would think you are ok. Unless they ask you donot volunteer anything they may just miss it at Dulles.

In theory, every foreigner entering Thailand, regardless of their Immigration status, is supposed to have funds totalling the equivalent of at least 20,000 THB at their disposal - although this requirement is seldom enforced in practice.

We may be getting somewhere. 829 is the airline code for Bangkok Air in the e-ticket number. If your 23-digit number starts with 829..., this number can also serve as confirmation of your onward flight. On my e-ticket, the identical 13-digit number was on one line called "Document", on another line "e-ticket number".

Another thought: in addition to writing that 13-digit number down on paper to show at check-in at Dulles airport if asked for, if you have a digital camera or you cellphone has a camera, photograph the part of the e-ticket displayed on your computer monitor that has the 13-digit number.

Bangkok Air has a web site that is not user friendly at all...You would think they would at least have a 800 number for these things...very frustrating...at best.

Oops, my mistake, 13-digit number, not 23 digits.

What you posted there is a reservation for a confirmed flight, not the e-ticket itself. Go with those numbers you have and you will most likely be OK at the check-in. Once you're on board, there is nothing to worry at the Bangkok end.

Maestro...I had my friend in Cambodia book a different flight with all the right numbers etc. I have just confirmed it and everything should be ok. It has the proper codes and what-not...Just need to get to a library and print this thing out. This is a big adventure for me, as I have not been out of the country since 1976. I sincerely thank you for your time and hope things are well..Ted Davis,Washington DC.
