Nissan Cube

Recommended Posts

I love Nissans, especially the older silvias, 180SX and the Skylines GTS/GTR (also the new GTR)

But what the hell is the Nissan cube? Why in the world would anyone buy one, it looks like it was designed from a box.

Everytime I drive past one I admit I shake my head thinking <deleted> is wrong with the driver, I swear I would never be caught dead in one, if my mate pulled up in one I would rather take a tuk tuk or taxi.

Please someone explain how anyone can buy one?? Is it cheap?? What does it have going for it that makes people think they want to buy one??

You got me, it's the fugliest thing I've ever seen and great aero on that one too  .. And they're not cheap either..

Yes, I think they must be grey imports so quite pricey given the taxes, but the distinctive looks which so divides opinion is the main selling point - they are so original and creative and so appeal to both men and women, young or old who want attention or love making a statement. As cares, the cube gets great mileage and comes with lots of safety features. If you don't like the exterior, you'll see quite an interesting styling theme inside; like a drop of water falling and creating a ripple effect; on the speakers, roof, cup holders etc, it's quite nice.

Excellent family car mainly to be used in the city. OP's sample comparisons 180SX and the Skylines GTS/GTR are rather bad family cars...

The owners of cars like these don't care about looks, they care about practicality. Where you look at the outside, they look at the volume inside

Ugly? In my eyes sure. Practical? In my eyes sure

Being square makes full use of the area available, no space is lost on curves, I think its practical but are we ready to be assimilated

We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile. :(

I think its cool, basicly I think most daring to do style different from Vios or Jazz is cool.:)

Toyota has one to, more squared and not asymetric as Cube, Altis based, saw the first one in TH like 2005

But being an import to Th through grey channels makes its price in TH just silly

Google "Kei" car's, they have quiet a cult following.

The Cube is not a Kei car though is it? I thought Kei cars were 660cc!

To be honest I don't know, ignorantly I group all the ugly little Japanese shits boxes into the same category.

Yep, the Scion xB (USA) / Toyota bB (Japan) - has been a big seller in Japan since 2000, and in the USA since it's release in 2004. USA models are available with the Camry 2.4L engine, making them popular in the modding scene.

Also not from Japan the Kia Soul..

Citroen... the older version then photo

Peugeot.. not the new shape as a 4 seat box on wheels

Skoda Yeti.. also around 1.5 million baht

All seen here in Thailand

Seen a few of the odd looking Honda Mobilio about

Then as mention you have Toyota BB

Toyota Sparky looks so very narrow

Suzuki Move

Daihatsu about 3 different models square boxy things

So the Cube is not so different

maybe the boxy shape is very practical.. Yes

Think next time will buy some sort of boxy thing, much easier for my 6 dogs to go to the vet, easier if I buy Fish at the Fish Market the 120km trip back at moment they have to be on the back seat of my car. but maybe something like the new Mazda CX 5 when it arrives next year, even the Chery Tiggo looks good, Suzuki Vitra, maybe even the new Kia Sportage will come to Thailand by then

The Cube goes for about 680k I heard.

I saw one yesterday with a handsome grey paint job. Not silver, grey.

Looked alright. Not that I would buy one, but still. They are growing on me...

I should add, if I had to choose between this and say a Nissan March or Mazda 2, this would be it.

Supposed to be quite economical on fuel.

The price is for an Import the number + blue book will be brand new in Thailand but the real year about 2005 for that price, I did see one for sale near me a few weeks ago, on window says 2011 986k, real manufactures date was 2009., brand new Import..

Someone in mt Village bought a 'new' Mitz Parjero Jr Mini 1.1 Auto, believe the real manufacturer date is more like 2000 - 2005

Expect someone knows, are these Import's refurbished in Japan before being sent to Thailand ? ask because did look at the Mitz Parjero Jr 1.8 last year... it looked new, smelt new, plastic covering the seats etc. but real year [manufactured] was 2004

I fancied one some years ago but now they are two a penny in Bangkok. Very practical for a town car. For Americans that is for driving in town not going to town like a Lincoln Town Car

Kia has the Soul.
