Escargo In Cans?

Featured Replies

I'd like to know if one can buy Escargo( snails) in cans in any of the large supermarkets here in Thailand. I haven't seen any as of yet. Thanks

Yes! Kvillage suk 26 in the hiso deli/market area- over near the parma ham and stuff. 90 snails from france in a can-around 1200 or 1400 baht.

Thank you, but I don't know where that is. Would it be Bangkok?

Just went to get my mail........and guess what???? yep Snails My Mail Box!!!!!!!!!............chewing away at some old leaflet;)

Yes bangkok sorry, I seem to recall finding smaller cans at a villa or foodland years ago.

Btw, its called gourmet market at kvillage, so maybe emporium 5th floor or paragon bottom level will have them-same group of companies I believe.

It's escargoT with a T

Why buying them in a can when you have them fresh everywhere is beyond my understanding blink.gif

Believe me it's going to be gross ...

Thank you for the T, even the spell checker didn't catch that one. Perhaps a little French in you?? I can't buy them everywhere as I live in the country and go shopping in the city once a month and it's more convenient plus maybe more safer to buy than their fresh.

99% of so-called canned "Escargots from France" are actually produced in Poland and are disgusting. The only safe brand would be Hediard, doubt you will find that in Paragon and that would cost you an am and a leg

You mean where I read on the can Product of France - they import them from Poland and can them in France? Wow, I learn something everyday, Next you will tell me the fin de clair (sp) oysters I had last night were actually not from Brittany but came from Kiev.

Yes I think they don't even have to can them in France, I saw a documentary on this. It's a loophole on French law, somehow they can get away with it.

They say basically that anyone can sell Escargots and pretend they are French, no one had actually thought of protecting this recipe.

Oysters are a different story, Fine de Clair is an actual AOC I think. But again here anything goes ...

Same as "Norwegian Salmon".

It is not protected, so when salmon from Norway became a huge hit many years ago, it became clear very soon that many exporters from other European countries called it the same, as long as it was Atlantic salmon (same type).

Why did the snail paint the letter S on the roof of his citroen?

He wanted to see his S Car GO. Thank you very much.
