Cold, Ears Closed And Sunday Flying

Featured Replies

As the title says since yesterday i have a little cold and my ears are a little closed but sunday I have to fly

does someone knows a good medicine for this because i do not want to have a problem with my ears in the plane.

Thanks in advance

Two choices of medication: Nasal decongestant drops/spray such as Iliadin nasal spray or a decongestant medication such as Sudafed or Actifed. Chewing gum also helps; the chewing action massages the eustachian tube a bit to enhance air circulation and keeps the salive and secretions watery as well..

Descent is the problem, especially with long flights, when the air expands in the middle ear so make sure you stay well hydrated..

Just to mention - if you happen to be flying to Dubai, do not carry sudafed or (I think also) actifed, they are banned drugs and will get you in all sortss of strife in the (admittedly unlikely) event that they are found.
