Tire Pressure On Scooters

Featured Replies

I'm renting a bike long term and wondered about tire pressure.

It seems to have lost a bit of pressure, so I went today to a station and tried to put some air back into the tires.

Questions:

- how much pressure in PSI should there be in the tire? (Yamaha Nouvo MX with mag wheels)

- how do the machines work?

They seem to be automatic and detecting the pressure and showing it on the display.

We don't have such modern machines in Europe, so I don't know how to use them.

I connected the machine with the tire and it would start at 24 or 27 PSI and then jump to 29, 35, 39...

I took the thing off when 35 appeared.

Was that correct?

No Idea, thanks for guidance.

Honda's are usually 30 front 33 rear, perhaps yours similar. Go to Tesco's and buy a gauge, about 200bht. Pump up at the garage and then deflate using the gauge. :)

yepp, depends on bike and load, but 30-35 is normal

the tyres side is marked with max pressure this tyre can handle

and do get you own meter as the ones at pumps are not reliable. and measure when tyre is cold, not while hot after riding to pump

My guy at Cosy beach is a human tyre pressure gauge. He presses his thumb on the tread and if he can't push it in it's inflated....and if he can it's under inflated. Needless to say I've invested 159 baht in a dial gauge....just in case he isn't calibrated correctly!

Thanks for the info!

I guess I was using the machine correctly?

It automatically pumps in air when it detects it is connected to a tire?

You set the machine first - hard-to-miss up and down buttons - and simply hold the tit. When it reaches pressure, it'll shut off and beep.

'IF' the machine is calibrated correctly . In UK a government team visit outlets and check correct pressure settings.

Buy a decent gauge at Tesco's. SORTED. :D
