My wife bought one of those small gas bottles where the outlet is at the top of the tap, rather than the side. However, the regulator we use already for another similar bottle won't screw onto it, and it appears to be a different pitch thread.

Are there different threads available on gas bottles? If so, is it possible to buy an adaptor?

Thanks for any help.

the standard gas bottle that uses a regulator has a thread to suit a PLO fitting, which all regulators have.

It sounds like you have bought a Primus type bottle which either has a jet in the outlet or in the appliance you fit to it like a burner or a lamp.

No ,there is no adaptor.

Thanks for that info.

I've been somewhat puzzled, and of course no one at any gas shop would explain that!

Spot on!

Bought one of those primus type fittings in Pattaya, and on arrival in the village tried it out. Only problem now is that although the brass fitting with the jet screws on, the part that screws on to that has a damaged thread, which I didn't notice, as the thread is on the inside of the tube, and it won't screw on properly, though it does work. It'll be a problem taking it off again. Sometimes you just can't win!

I think the problem arose because the ones that take a regulator have a red outlet cap, while the primus type have a green outlet cap, and someone changed the coloured cap. Could be wrong, of course.
