UDD Co-Leader to seek bail for 25 detainees

UDON THANI, 14 August 2011 (NNT) -Red Shirt core member Kwanchai Praipana is set to make another attempt to seek freedom for his fellows who have been in detention since last year.

United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship co-leader and President of We Love Udon group Kwanchai Praipana disclosed that he had planned to bail out 25 UDD members on Monday, using salary slips of all Udon Thani MPs as the collateral.

Mr. Kwanchai has earlier requested the court to release the red-shirt members on bail for four times. All his requests were rejected.

He said that the current political situation in the country was showing a good sign and that national unity was likely to happen. He claimed that Justice Minister Police General Pracha Promnok also agreed on the idea that the detained UDD members should be treated fairly. Temporary release of detained UDD members should be the first step of the fair treatment.

The UDD co-leader added that the National Human Rights Commission and the independent fact-finding committee for national reconciliation formed during the Abhisit government also found that the charges filed against the UDD members were excessive.

The 25 red-shirt members face charges of inciting people to take part in illegal acts, trespassing and vandalizing public property, using force to prevent authorities from performing their duties, and attempting to burn the City Hall on May 19, 2010. They are among 132 protesters in custody nationwide.

"... seek bail... using salary slips of all Udon Thani MPs as the collateral."

You cheap bast**ds put your hands in your pockets and use money like the rest of the population. What will they think of next; Christmas cards or I.O.Us on the back of a napkin from KFC.

Just out of interest - and i'm happy to be corrected - have any TV members every used their salary slips for this purpose or similar. Perhaps you've been stopped by the police on the way home and the wallets is empty apart from your salary slip, so you slipped the policeman that instead of 200 baht and the police man skipped happily up the road with a piece of paper saying Mr. (insert name here) had just been paid 100'000 Baht.

If the court does accept their salary slips I hope the Thai legal and justice system will extend that courtesy, nationwide, to the rest of the population

A bit off topic, but those cases from 2008 events are progressing up to the point where defendants are ordered to pay damages. The April - May 2010 cases haven't started yet.

Yes, they have been charged and released on bail, just as the red leaders.

The ones left in prison are the small people.

Some yellows got convicted a couple of months ago for hijacking a bus during the govt. house occupation and are now serving time.

Listen, just because you don't follow the news or read or...doesn't mean that things aren't happening or already happened.

Scotbeve,

Still nothing about the arson attackers, hospital invasions, the cost to people in general due to school and business closures either.

The airport closure was small beer compared to the aforementioned events.

Christ, your mate you say lost 10 million , a gnats piddle in the ocean that's all that was.

The world has moved on since the airport closure, people have got drunk a time or two and gone to sleep a time or two, Stop mithering get a life.
