Would A Grapevine Grow In Phuket?

Featured Replies

As a child, I lived in Corfu, Greece, and there were attractive grape vines trailing all around the house.

Do you think grapevines would grow here in Phuket?

I'm not worried about the quality of the grapes - I will not be eating or making wine from them - simply an attractive vine trailing along the house wall.

... and if they will grow here, where would I buy them? (anywhere in Thailand is OK)

yes they will grow, but will not produce fruit due to the climate .....we had grapes in the tropics of australia but had to manipulate the vines with chemicals to get them to produce fruit .....the vines also struggle with fungal issues ...but just for cover around the house give it a shot ... not sure where you will get the vines in Phuket ....cheers and goodluck

There is a huge Vineyard called Silverlake inland and south of Pattaya and up from Sata Hip they make wine and table grapes so I suppose it is possible. In fact I just Googled it and there are loads of Vineyards in Thailand very surprising but although Phuket is a bit further south should be no problem.
