I want a job with Thaia visa forum. I can write headlines that makes people bite.

Non immigrant visa required to drink beer. Bar to close at Christmas for 3 days. Thailand to become sex free. Etc Etc Etc

Cheers Fishface, made my day :P

Excellent attempt Fishface but if I may point out the missing element that'll really cause some Pavlovian reactions and possible strokes - attributing quotes to Thaksin, Yingluk or the government in connection with TVF.

"Thaksin Shinawatra tweeted that all TVF posters who don't like him couldn't get laid for free in a mortuary and have wives with faces that look as if it caught fire and somebody put it out with a shovel"

" Yingluk Shinawatra on TVF - " Take the piss all you like but I'm richer than any of you so who gives a flying f#ck what you think. Go and open another Chang and realise how worthless your existence is"

" A Thai government spokesman recently said " Of course our main aim is to bring Thaksin back whitewashed and squeaky clean. Duh. His sister is the PM for fuc_ks sake. But all your keyboard bashing won't change things one iota. We make you report every 90 days where you live like some pikey criminal so obviously your position in the grand scheme of things is slightly above that of the fleas on a soi dogs arse. Dance monkeys dance!" :D

:cheesy:

Quality.

Does this mean Thailand will also end the two prices scam at many family type events. Many places Farangs pay one price and a Thai pays a lower price. Thats great for their family image.

sad.gifsad.gifsad.gif

No I think that is there for a reason. Asian foriegners pay the same prices as Thais. Have an Aussie mate who is 3rd generation Chinese/Australian he has been to thailand a few times with his Australian wife and kids and the only one in his family that pays farang prices is his wife. It would be a positive start if they did implement "A one price for all" in the so called family tourist destinations in Thailand. I rember her saying when it 1st happened to her how insulted and belittled she felt by the whole thing being segregated from her own family. I guess the Thais think that farangs are larger in size compared to asians and therefore they take up more space and leave a larger footprint. Maybe a little like the idea some airlines considered, over wieght and extreemly large people to pay for two seats on a plane. The sex tourists on the other hand don't really notice these things. The get off the plane head to thier favourite little bar where thier girl has been waiting patiently for thier return to the one who loves them. They never move from thier destination.

If they want to attract families then make families want to come. Don't insult them with dual pricing treat them equally and make them want to come back.

This guy Tomwit should forever in the future be referred to as "Nitwit". If Thailand would improve it's educational system, start teaching it's students to speak proper english, and rid itself of the levels of out of control corruption is currently has, then there is a possibility of lifting up it's people to the point where an Issan girl does not have to choose between earning 7,000 baht per month as a cleaning girl, or a waitress, working 60-70 hour weeks, or earning that same 7,000 baht in 7 hours of less pleasing faring men. Let me see. That is 240-280 hours per month of cleaning, vs. 7 hours of pleasing. Not a hard choice for some. Because a nitwit wished is so, does not change anything one iota. Maybe in his mind, but not on planet earth.

200,000

Oops, just noticed the 10 other pages of comments! I remind myself again to make sure I have read the thread to the end before commenting!

My two baht's worth:

The sex trade is alive and well in every corner of the globe. It's just more alive here for several reasons covered well above. More regulation will see the participants (men, women, and punters) at less risk of harm. That's all I see as important. It will never go away and nor should it. And why be ashamed of it?

200,000 = Song Sean. 2,000,000= Song Lahn.....

I was wondering the same - but chickened out about asking in case it was obvious and I was being ignorant or stupid in enquiring when everyone else knew what it means  !!!!

A lakh is a figure used in India, and it represents 100,000. So, they re suggesting 200,000. The figure is probably far higher. I have a friend who runs a NGO in Thailand, and deals with HIV positive

sex workers. She tells me per capita, the figure is way, way higher in the U.S. Hard to believe, but when you take into account the fact that it is all underground there, it is easy to envision.

If elderly western men couldnt go to Pattaya for sex with young isan farm girls and no wife buying then Pattaya would become a ghost town in a few weeks. I think that the Philipines is probably looking the better option in the years to come.Thaksin is definitely opposed to the isan sex/wife trade. He wanted to close patpong 10 years ago and develop a casino on the site.

Sex tourism --are you joking, you know how much a bonk is these days. Things have got out of hand and now its 3000 at least. A lady drink is an arm and a leg which is close on to 150baht for some red water.

Short time rooms are going bust too. I can barely afford a motorbike,--certainly not both like we did in the good ole days for ha loi.

I remember when 2000 a day did all three bike, bird, booze, bed.

Yes, good point.

The cost of social and adult entertainments in Thailand is no longer the bargain it used to be.

As a matter of fact prices can now be equalled to those of the United States, Europe and Australia or even more in some places.

The problem is that these industries have become greedy, very few good deals to be had and many Western tourists are now seeking their holidaying pleasures elsewhere.

We are now talking about a social night out costing in the region of thousands rather than hundreds. Wine, women and song can prove to be the most expensive commodity in Thailand.

I believe they killed the golden goose long ago.

hehehe funny man I have a Thai friend now working in Zurich, it cost her 1 million baht for visa, plane ticket and other incidentals they charge 4,000baht for 15 min. and 10,000baht for 30 min. she works about 4 hours 6 days a week has Sunday off. Escort services in the US typically cost 200 to 400 dollars for 1 hour. At these rates it does appear Thailand is still a bargain

At a semi upscale bar here in the states you will pay in the neghibor hood of 10 dollars for a mixed drink with no option to chat to woman unless one decides she can lower herself to do so.

Aren't the Swiss smart enough to go for a 15min double rather than a half hour - or have you mucked up the rates?

I recently returned from a week in Patong Beach ,Phuket and it was full of tourists, just like Pattaya in high season. These included a large number of Russians. Upon my return to Pattaya I was surprised at how quiet it was by comparison , drove down " Soi Moscow" in Pratumnak and not many people there. If the sex tourists were removed from Pattaya then this city would surely die.

Another TOT joke trying to jusify their huge budget. Trying to sell Thailand without sex would be harder than selling snow to eskimoes. Take the sex out of Thailand and what do you have left, rip off taxis, beach thugs, bent cops , poor health care illiterate students and so on and so on. Still love it though but then I am a single male.

Not in our lifetimes.

Try to stop sex tourism! Give me a break. Men from all over the world come her for Thai girls and some for boys, and many for golf. Take the girls out of the equation and what will be the result?

For a family beach holiday there are many places to go.

Take the girls out and you have gays playing golf.

I recall in the Ali G movie the Thai Ambassador was a woman whom fired ping pong balls from her nether region.

Bloody hell, I wish you hadn't posted that. Now I've got a picture in my head of a higher ranked govt officer................................and I can't stop giggling!

One headline says Thailand to shed Sex Tourism tag - in other words they want to clean up their reputation and be seen as a wholesome country. This is a noble thought no matter the economic ramifications as many posters have ponted out of course one would think if they (Thailand) wish to be viewed by the world as a wholesome country then activites highlighted in the other headline would also need to change!

Charter change part of plan to whitewash ex-PM

Only have to glance around this very site to see ads for 'Phuket girls', 'Bangkok girls', 'massage' etc etc.

Maybe Thaksin has a 'war on prostitution' planned and will simply kill anyone suspected of being a prostitute.

Or maybe the govt thinks that if people are dumb enough to vote them in, they'll also believe this news. Who knows?

Actually, this is non-news, can't believe I'm wasting my precious Sunday morning on this #@$%...

Sex is in your face everywhere in Thailand. Go to Chiang Mai its right at Tapa Gate. Go to Bangkok its right there at Nana . Pattaya has 80.000 whores. Puket has protitutes all over the place.

If you want Thailands image as a sex tourist destination to change ,your going to have to , at minimum, move the prostitution places to the outskirts of town. As for Pattaya. You can only clamp down

on the whole scene there like they did with the Golden Tiangle. But I don t think Thailand has the balls to go that far. It would course a rebellion. I m sure a lot of Thais have a lot of investments tied

up in protitution places in Thailand. Its a real source of income and Thais love money we all know that.

I guess you haven't heard yet Thaksin is no longer in government. last time I heard he was living Dubai. So I guess he does not have a war on prostitution or any plans to shoot prostitues on sight. The current government wants to clean up the countries image and if that means interfering in your lifestyle well that can't be helped.

The Shinawatra are clearly back in the driving seat

Yes, changing the perception of the knock shop of SE Asia, to a family run kleptocracy.

You betchya the Shinawatra clan are back in busines.

The only upside? His kids aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.

Chiang Mai - Go to the karaoke bars in Chiang Mai Land at night. 1,500 baht for all night with Asian, 2,500 baht for all night with Farang.

Huay Kaew Road near CMU - becoming the "in spot" for picking up young univ students who are looking for money to buy latest phones, purses and shoes.

Here is a Snip unnecessary rubbish...

Actually las Vegas mostly targets business convention.

Anyway, I came to realize that the place that cater to foreign sexpats are usually run by foreigners.

So lets get rid of these first, then we see what's left

LOL you have to be kidding or you have never been out of Bangkok or perhaps Pattaya.

Virtually every Thai village has a place you can go for a romp. It doesn't matter who with, you will not be disturbed unless you are a moron with someone underage, or you are jumping the Puyaibaan's wife, and even that is frequently overlooked.

To even suggest "all sex oriented destinations" are run by foreigners is merely an exposure of how little you know.

Back to topic - Just in from Mars, and the citizens there have decided to change so that they are no longer "The Red Planet".

and that is my considered opinion

Actually I regularly travel from China to Bangkok.

All the flights are fully booked, but not by western sexpats

yeah, by Chinese sex tourists!

Why are posters referring to farrangs as sex pats. I would guess that 50% that are on holiday are not sex fiends.

And I would think 50% of people who stay most of their time are not.

The biggest % of sex trade in Thailand is with the Thai's themselves, Dont just think of Nana ==Pattaya. The sex trade covers near ALL Thailand and most of that is where tourists are not around. It's been posted on TV Forum way in the past, that an estimated 10% of sex is from farrangs only. Think about it--just because you see it where you happen to be, it's the tip of the iceberg.

Maybe the Thai official IS aware of these facts, so is wanting to clean up the Thai part of the sex trade.

HE IS still crazy though, as he will put a few million out of work==yes thats the businesses as well as the sex workers.

A lot of what you're saying makes no sense. Why does Thailand has a sex tourism reputation because of Thai on Thai prostitution? You do realize that the other 90% of Thai on Thai prostitution would not be classified as tourism, don't you?

They didn't say they were trying to end prostitution in Thailand. They said they were trying to change the perception that Thailand is a sex tourism destination.

Wouldn't make sense to you if you don't want it to. No matter what they said -don't forget this nut in India is talking from where monkey's put their nuts. The whole of the sex industry here especially tourist areas would have to be cleaned up to enable Thailand to give the image of FAMILY orientated. You change the image of your car when you clean it only.

The 90% Thai on Thai certainly comes into the equation, The Thai business people in Pattaya in bars, (monkey business) but as you told me it is not classed as tourism.( Foreign)

So what do you do with the THAI sex parlors ???? in full glare of the NEW FAMILY arrivals, I would suggest all the doors Have OTOP FACTORY written on them.

I would have thought with all the posts on this thread somebody could have the common decency to point out what a lakh is.

That common decency has been displayed a number of times already.

I must apologise for my omission of s "grin" emoticon to show I was joking
