I rather stay in my apartment

Too true. Living and working in SE Asia isn't for everyone. Best stay home and lock the doors.

Chiang mai, thai islands, southern vietnam, Burma is opening up at the moment too and you might want to check that out, would be a good place to be for a photographer i reckon as it opens up.

Stay the hell out of northern vietnam, worst experience of se asia in my experience.

I grew up in one of the crime capitals of the world and know what it is to constantly live in fear and on the edge. I have also lived in one of the safest countries in the world and know what it feels like not to have a worry in the world. And then there is Malaysia. I agree regarding crime in Malaysia :( Personal assault is a very real, very big problem, so are robberies. What an eye-opener in all honesty as we certainly didn't expect the level of crime we experienced and witnessed living in Malaysia. I guess it takes living in Malaysia for an extended period AND working amongst all echelons of the society to fully comprehend the extend of the problem.
