Use your office to strengthen the reds: Jatuporn

Pheu Thai MPs Jatuporn Promphan on Wednesday told red office holders to work and strengthen the red-shirt movement in order to advance democracy and ensure justice.

Jatuporn was among the well-wishers congratulating Aree Krainara and Yoswaris "Jeng Dokjik" Chooklom for becoming political appointees in the Interior Ministry.

Aree, former head guard of the red shirts, becomes the secretary to Interior Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit and reds leader Yoswaris is the deputy secretary serving Deputy Interior Minister Thanis Thienthong.

"I told Aree and Yoswaris to use their political office to rectify injustice inflicted on the red shirts," Jatuporn said.

He said he reminded the two and other office holders - if the red shirts are not strong, then the government would not be sustainable.

He said the red shirts would continue their activities which will not harn the government but to rectify injustice.

Commenting on speculation about purging top bureaucrats, he said the red shirts had no grudges with civil servants, particularly provincial governors.

He also ruled out the idea that fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra should agree to serve his jail term for just one day in order to qualify for a royal pardon.

"The dispensing of justice is still unfair," he said, rejecting that Thaksin should comply with his conviction and punishment.

Of the 91 cases raised by the people against the authorities in connection with the last year's unrest, the Department of Special Investigation concluded the reports on 13 cases which are still under the prosecution review, he said. In contrast every case involving the red-shirt leaders are now in the prosecution stage at various courts, he added.

"Reconciliation can happen only if all sides share the same sentiment; for a start the killers and those killed must be subjected to the same legal proceedings," he said, voicing disappointment that none of the authorities involved in the crackdown have been prosecuted.

Key Red Shirts pledge: no political favouritism

image_201108311202291E378E35-D0F4-EA32-D9C533472BF28C6A.jpg

BANGKOK, Aug 31 - Two key Red Shirt leaders began working in the Ministry of the Interior on Wednesday, promising not to exploit their political positions in favour of fellow former red-clad activists, but rather to help fight Thailand's poverty and drug problems.

Tuesday's weekly cabinet meeting appointed leading members of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) to political positions as assistants, advisers, secretaries and assistant secretaries to several ministers.

Among those are UDD Red Guard head Aree Krainara, appointed a secretary to Interior Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit and Yoswaris Chuklom -- also known as comedian Jeng Dokjik -- assigned to work as an assistant to Deputy Interior Minister Thanit Thienthong's secretary.

Regarding public criticism over the appointments, Mr Aree said he welcomed differing opinions but he intends to work for the people in accord with the government's policy statement, in particular to fight against the problems of poverty and narcotics.

"The Red Shirts will neither abuse power nor privilege to favour any fellow Red Shirts who are contesting legal cases in the courts," the former head of the Red Shirt guards pledged in response to a query over the possibility that the new political appointees might exploit their positions for their peers as some critics have warned.

Mr Aree promised that there would be no mass transfer of ministry officials as the prime minister had earlier said the government would not take revenge in response to past political events, but undertake reform instead.

He also asked the public to give the new political appointees an opportunity to work to prove themselves, saying he believed in Mr Yoswaris' ability to do a good job as they had formerly worked together. (MCOT online news)

It's Thaksin's red army until he can also manage to completely turn around the regular army as he was about to accomplish before the coup. PTP, a move towards democracy, sure thing ...

(Thugocracy, more like it.)

I see similarities to some messed up countries in Africa, with strong men with private armies.

The reds represent the extremist side of the PTP, so this can't go down too well with the moderates within the party, if there were any left to begin with. In fact, I can't see how the moderates will even control the reds without using Thaksin's money as the carrot.

"..for a start the killers and those killed must be subjected to the same legal proceeding."

Interesting what are the legal proceedings for the dead?? A day in court perhaps

It's fairly obvious that Thailand is now <deleted>**ed. The reds startegy is to use a core of radical supporters to intimidate and forceably coerce the grassroots to support them. Next will be little red books!!

Thailand as a rough translation means "land of the free" Its a lot less free now.

If it wasn't clear that PTP = UDD before, it is abundantly clear now.

It was overwhelmingly apparent before.

Just some were blinded by school boy ideology or wishful thinking run amok.

What was hidden by lies before, now can become 'policy put in action',

just wait till wee see what that means in practice.

Just think about these new installeés in cabinet ministers assistant positions.

Going out to make policy happen... in the red way,

and also to report back to their ideological bosses about

'if the minister is pure enough, or not and must be replaced'.

Think of Tim Curry as the 'Political Officer' aboard Red October, ready to report less than party line thoughts and deeds on a moments notice.

Interesting points, especially how this goes down with the moderates of ptp.

Then the question, are there any real moderates? Or are they just the ptp folks who are happy to be at the trough but they make little noise?

MP Plays Down Govt Jobs for Red-shirt Figures

A Pheu Thai MP says he believes the allocation of Cabinet ministers' secretarial and advisory posts to key red-shirt elements will not spark a rift in the government.

Pheu Thai MP for Nakhon Phanom Paijit Sriworakhan admitted that the appointments of red-shirt core figures to the posts of ministers' secretaries and advisers did disappoint some MPs in his faction, which is dominated by those from the Northeast, and that they have raised the issue with him.

However, Paijit said the assignment of secretarial and advisory jobs to those red-shirt elements was not out of the ordinary and that it would cause no problem within the administration.

Paijit said he believes that at least 8 or 9 Pheu Thai MPs from the Northeast will be named chairpersons of House committees.

Paijit said that his appointment as the government whip chief will be determined by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and his party's seniors.

He said the qualifications of the person that will be selected for the job should be on par with the Opposition counterpart.

Meanwhile, Democrat MP for Phitsanulok Warong Dejwikrom asked the government to clarify the details on the continuation of the rice price guarantee program implemented by the previous administration as farmers are waiting to for concrete information.

He advised the government to follow the previous administration's policy of providing 5,000 baht in relief fund to each flood-affected family.

Warong expressed doubt how the Bang Rakam Model will be able to tackle flood problems and urged the premier and the government to provide more details about its procedures.

Meanwhile, two of Pheu Thai new party-list MPs, Danuporn Punnakan and Yuranant Pamornmontri, reported for duty at Parliament.

The two are replacements for Banthoon Supakhawanich and Police Lieutenant General Chaj Kuldilok, who resigned as party-list MPs to take ministerial posts.

Earlier today, members of the Association of Motorcycle Taxi Drivers gathered at the Parliament House to file a petition asking the prime minister to take action against crime syndicates that squeeze kickbacks from them and operate unregistered motorcycle taxi services.

PTP is just going through their list of hidden agendas. So all these events should not be a surprise to anyone who has seen this coming months ago, even though they (PTP) had strongly denied it.

Let just get ready for the finale - The final item on the agenda is to bring back the criminal mastermind because all the roads have already been paved (when his cronies and relatives are in control of most of government positions). Then the plunder will begin!

THAI DEMOCRACY - survival of the richest!

""The dispensing of justice is still unfair," he said"

I have to agree. When a large number of criminal proceedings are thwarted by the accused being given MP status, that is certainly unfair, not to mention undemocratic. It's a good thing that there are no statutory limitations on murder cases.

Message to the kiddies -- crime pays.

He said the red shirts would continue their activities........i'm not sure which ones. attempting to burn bangkok to the ground, waylaying residents and forcing them to undergo body searches while trying to enter their residences, trying to blow up transmission towers or fuel tanks at the airport. he might mean starting up the grenade launcher factories or he could be advocating the threats to journalists. the red shirts have done so many things for thailand, must make thaksin supporters proud.

OK, come on, own up!

It was a simple typo error at the printers:

United Front for Dictatorship against Democracy

or was it:

United afront to Democracy....

Why would they use Thaksin's money when they now have access to the national treasury? Did you observe the "shake-up" at the Treasury dept. last week? It's a heist well underway.
