Need Hearing Aid Information

Featured Replies

Can anyone give me some information on where to get a hearing aid and what the costs are?

Thanks in advance...

I bought one for my dad when he was alive for about 2,500 baht in Fascino on Pattaya Nua (North Pattaya Rd)

It depends how much you want to spend but I think 2,500 baht should get you a decent one. I'm sure there are lots of other places to buy these but Fascino was my choice as thats where I do all of my medical business. They also give you a membership card and you get 5% discount on everything plus you get a stamp card and when it's full you can redeem it for prizes type thing.

You must be joking

A good hearing aid costs about Bt75,000. The best cost Bt250,000 a pair. If your hearing is just slightly impaired you may get away with one for about Bt25,000.

Besides Fascino does not sell hearing aids. They have to be made to measure by proffessional specialists.

yes, without any doubt, you first need to see an ear specialist ("doctor ")

There is always the possibility that you need medical help - not just a hearing aid - may be both ...

f.e.

Dr. Apichai

if you are coming from the beach on central road,

before 3rd road

on the left side, just some houses before the telephone office

wed, fri, sun, 6-8 pm

I think, most time he is working in a big clinic (international or bkk-pattaya ...)

038-425046

I would say , expect to make an appointment for checking your hearing abilities. I do not know, may be, he will send you to another place for doing this.

or go to:

- Banglamung Hospital, Sawang Fah Road, Naklua

- bangkokpattayahospital

Na, there are cheaper ones on e-bay!whistling.gif

Maybe you should ask your wife to communicate with you in another way.

If your wife is the only one who is complaining, then the "fault" may be with your wife.

Lots of people start talking to other people without knowing if they have the other's attention.

If your wife asks for your attention first, before she starts talking your problem of mis-communication is solved for FREE.

Well I am sooo sorry for replying to the OP at the time when noone else had replied and giving him my personal experience and where I bought on for my father at the age of 82. Next time maybe I should not try and help? The 2500 baht one worked very well for him. Sorry to the OP for trying to help and next time I will wait for the expert "Gamini" with his 250,000 baht replies.

Take it easy DocW, you all seem to be getting confused with a hearing aid and a devise that simply amplifies sound. The problem with the latter is it also amplifies the background noises. A proper hearing aid is made to suit your hearing deficiencies specifically.

I wouldn't use Dmed Hearing on Sukhumvit, their service was very disappointing, they also work out of Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.

Although the product they had was good it was the service that let it down (I can let people know more if they want by PM about Dmeds service but I cannot discuss it here).

The prices of the units depend on the technology, they had one for 300,000baht for both ears and it has multiple channels and only amplifies the frequency that the ear is having issues with, they also have a remote for volume, mp3 connection and bluetooth phone connection, I would think Widex are available from other suppliers than Dmed, so check around as the product itself is excellent.

Sirikit hospital at Sattahip has a competent audiologist with the proper equipment to perform hearing tests and sells hearing aids at competitive prices.

There will likely be problems with hearing aids bought in Thailand and the necessary service for them.

Hearing aids are imported as "kits" and assembled here with all the obvious problems associated with that process. Repairs are also done here by poorly trained personnel.

Humidity here is another obvious problem.

Op, sometimes it can be a relief, not to hear ones wife. :D

Battery sizes also seem to vary a lot where you get from 2-3 days up to 1 week from various hearing aids
