Inport Duty And Tax On Parts

Featured Replies

Does anyone know how much import duty and taxes I will pay on $1500 of motorcycle parts. I want to order a set of ported heads for a Harley.

Depends how you ship them.

Should be 30% on declared / assessed value plus shipping, but depending on who you ship with it can be a lot more.

Ride on!

I know a guy who brought in $7000 in new motorcycle parts and paid nothing. Are you an American?

I have just yesterday picked up parts sent from the USA, I was charged 30% excise duty on top of list price plus 7% value added tax.

Very important to get shipper to use US parcel post opposed to courier like Fedex and to declare less value ... customs won't question it once its in print but will still have to pay about 30%

Do not use Fedex as they were looking for about 100% of the value of some track leathers i bought few months back ... not sure if its a scam or not but i refused to pay and got them to return to sender which caused all kinds of hassles.... eventually got it re-delivered and ended up paying 30% declared value at Lam Chabang customs..
