I'm applying for a job/contract and need to do a web search (on myself) because I know the client will do it, if they haven't already.

Although I don't have anything serious to hide, there could me some embarrassing bits out there in cyberspace which I would like to get rid of, if still around.

I've done the normal google searches.

Has anyone tried SPOKEO ? It's cheap and I don't mind paying for it but wonder if it's a waste of time. Also I hesitate giving them my credit card info since they are an information broker and with my credit card, I'm just handing them a sensitive source for more personal information.

Any other suggestions? Is there a better search engine/information broker out there? I don't need a search on criminal records or land titles or official type data.

Hopefully your potential employer doesn't read this forum, because it doesn't take a genius to put "rogerdee123" together with "Roger" the applicant who just came in.

And a quick Google search on "rogerdee123" comes up with mostly you "sometimes indulging in commercial sex" and "cannabis.com" (not really A+ new hire material  )

(Oh did I forget to mention you wanting to be a 45 year old male model in Bangkok?)

Just go to those sites which have details that some people might frown upon and have the forum admins delete your posts. I mean I'm sure i PMed the TV site admins and asked them to "delete all posts by dave111223" they could just run a simple query through the database and do it.

(P.S. Yeah that other "rogerdee123" in Thailand is really giving you a bad name.)

What has once made it to the www is usually very hard to erase.

As for deleting posts on TV, this has been discussed a few times, here is the latest response, no can do.

I don't care about my posts on TV. Also not really worried about all the "rogerdee123" related entries.

I just want to do a more comprehensive search than google on my (real) name and my email addresses.

Understand that you don't care about your TV posts, (or other posts by rogerdee123), this was more a response to Dave111223.

Never used SPOKEO, or any other pay search site. So can't give you recommendation there, hopefully someone else will pipe in.

But after looking at a few of the top search responses on SPOKEO from Google, I would, as you've already mentioned, avoid giving them any credit card information.

So if SPOKEO come back with a list of compromising information about you that they found; if they are not able to help you delete or coverup that information then what's the point?

I want to know what info is there to be found/seen.
