Alternative To True Tv ?

Unfortunately, TrueVisions is the 800 pound gorilla in Thailand when it comes to English language broadcasting. As as you've probably seen, especially in cities/townes, there are TrueVisions red/gray dishes mounted everywhere. While you'll see some other small KU band dish-based systems in Thailand like DTV and IPM, they have very little English language programing and much less overall programming.

And although there are hundreds of Thai/India/Pakistan/Nepal/Southwest Asia/Southeast Asia channels available by using a C-band dish (big black ones) setup pointed at Thaicom5 and/or NSS6, very little is in English except Thai-Asian Network (TAN), which is Ch 78 on TrueVisions and is also on NSS6, Russia Today news on C band (in English), some old movies, music videos, etc.

Yeap, TrueVisions pretty much rules the English TV programming airwaves in Thailand and even rules the Thai language airwaves when it comes to dish-based systems in Thailand especially in the cities. I think the real reason they rule the airwaves in Thai homes, especially city dwellers, is because a KU-band based system only requires a small dish (around 0.75m) compared to a C-band system which requires a big dish (like around 5ft in diameter or more)...usually pretty hard to mount a C band dish outside an apartment window. I know here in Bangkok some apartment buildings on the south & west side are really nothing but a big advertisement for TrueVisions as the sides of the buildings have dozens upon dozens of red TrueVisions dishes mounted.
