Internet Connection Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hi,

I live in Prawet district of Bangkok. The Internet connection in our apartment keeps dropping. so much so that I need to look at an alternative means of going on line, without signing up to an annual agreement. Any Ideas of the best option. Land line or usb modem or whatever. Also costs and speeds. Any help appreciated.

If you can get a decent 3G signal have a look at TOT,True Prepaid DTAC Sim for USB 3G aircard you can get this unlimited download for 700- 900THB/Month. No contract just buy each month.

What type of connection do you have now? Did it ever work satisfactorily for you? How m

If you do not want to get a fixed-line broadband service, like DSL from True, then your other choice would be 3G. TOT does have a 3G mast in Ram2; service is good. DTAC (850 Mhz) also has a 3G signal in Ram2. AIS/One-2-Call (900 Mhz) does not have 3G service in Ram2 as of today, but rumors are it is coming soon. Truemove H is post-paid only.

You may be able to tether your 3G-capable phone and use it as a modem, or you could buy a USB Air-Card. Be sure to match the frequency(ies) of the Air-Card to the service provider. Air-cards are ~ 2,000 baht or less; 3G service varies by volume but figure you could get 3 GB/30 days/700 baht, just as a budgeting estimate.
