Divorce Certificate Question

Featured Replies

Hi, thanks in advance this is a very interesting site full of useful information.

I was married and divorced in the USA and know that I need a Divorce certificate to marry my Thai woman. I do not have the original certificate, My question is the following.

Does anyone know if I can print out the Case Summary from the Court website, have that translated and use it as proof of divorce here in Thailand?

Or do I need to get an official print out from the court?

thanks again

The copies must be certified by the county clerk of the court where the judgement was entered.

Thanks ;-). that was what I feared, after checking the us console site a month ago.. but it seems that things have very recently changed. I called the US Consular services and was informed that they have an affidavit form that suffices (needs translation, of course ,and costs $50US to certify).. so i checked online again to se the forms and sure enough there is new form that you simply fill out the important info..

so will go with that and report bak after my experience.

cheers

Believe you fill out the form and the embassy notarizes your statement. Up on seeing you have been divorced, the amphur in Thailand will ask for the divorce documents, legalised and translated.
