Pineapple With Chili, Sugar And Salt

Featured Replies

It just crossed my mind that 10 years ago it seem quite normal to eat pineapple with chili, sugar and salt in Thailand, but I haven't see it around for a long time.

Is it still common in some places in Thailand or dropped out of the local taste fashion?

When Wifey buys pineapple off the local fruit lady it comes with a little bag of the stuff. Definitely still in vogue here in Pathum Thani :)

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Comes with the fruit I buy here in Phuket, but I always toss it. Any good anybody? Seems strange........

Curious where you live OP? I see it all the time. Its ok GOP, not a fave but not bad.

A other odd thing, green mango with fish sauce and chili. Still very popular in Isaan.

Get the same little bag of stuff with Pomelo too, its part of my five a day, the other four being different variety of grapes used to make the wine i drink.

Whereabouts do you live? In Bangkok, you buy packaged pineapple at almost any store you'll get a little sachet, if you're talking about street stalls most will give you packets as well...

Should be eaten in moderation; you may increase a risk of diabetes eating sugared pineapples. "Five a day" means a minimum of four vegetables...
