What are the chances with all these industrial estates now under water, some companies are producing toxic chemicals that have found their way into the flood waters, and I wonder what checks will be in place to ensure those toxins haven't got on to farm lands

This disaster has potentially far reaching consequences

A day or two ago I was watching a Thai minister talking about just this topic on TV. He mentioned a number of email messages being passed around, one in particular concerning a factory that was supposed to have metric ass-tons of acid. Turns out they had two bottles kept in a special lab cabinet. He also pointed out that a lot of the chemicals being mentioned in these scaremails were quite expensive and would be among the first things to be evacuated or stored up high. A lot of the super hazardous is tracked and factories had been contacted. Despite that I have no doubt there will be some hazardous substances getting into the water, it would be surprising if that didn't happen, but they will be quite diluted and as long as you don't drink it or soak in it for hours you should be safe.

You want to get your self out to Sahmut Sahkon. there are tanning factory's which use carcinogenic chemicals in the course of tanning leather, and the colouring from dying jeans. They don't give a dam about the people who Handel the tanning. and they just empty the by products into the drainage ditches beside the factory.
