My wife informed me that she went to Big C on Hang Dong road to pick up items for her restaurant. When she parked, around 6:00PM she noticed a guy watching her a bit too much. She got quite nervous at this attention and worried as Big C has no security guards. She was in the store for about 10 minutes and when she got back to the car she couldn't figure out why her key wouldn't work. Then she found that the car was now unlocked and her purse was missing.

He apparantely brute forced broke the lock and now she can't lock the car and the door electrics don't work. Fortunately it wasn't her main, large purse which she took in with her but a smaller catch all purse.

It shook her up quite a bit as she had thoughts of him forcing her into the car and taking off. She's off to the police to file a report as she clearly remembers what he and the old car he was with looked like.

She said she parked between a new Vios and Civic and wondered why he picked her car. I explained she has a 15 year old vehicle without security features such as alarms and the others do.

Anyway, make sure you don't leave valuables is plain view in your car when parking. Big C has security cameras at the car entry point but not sure who she could contact to look at the video because she can remember what he and his car looks like.

Just as some general suggestions, never leave anything of value in your car. If in a situation where you have a suspicious person near where you want to park, maybe find a different place to park. Take a photo of the suspicious person - making this effort will often keep them from attempting anything - use your phone cam, or if you don't have one, pretend to. Write down the license number of the car he was in/with/near. Also, he may have picked her car because he saw her just enter the store, and probably figured she would not be back for at least 10 minutes. If your wife was concerned about him, it may have been a good idea to ask one of the employees at Big C to walk with her and help her get her purchases into the car safely. Glad there was nothing more than some damaged property.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. There's been a bike stealing racket happening down on Chang Klan this week. I'm sure they've moved on but it's a timely reminder to remain vigilant.
