Jave Update Available

Featured Replies

Java update keeps popping up over and over again. Anyway to disable this auto update?Tried somethings in the past but it just won't go away.

This should fix it:

- Uninstall Java (all versions - it sometimes likes to install various version in parallel)

- Go go Java.com, download and install the latest

You really don't want to have an outdated Java version as those are being targeted specifically by malware. They're a barn door for trojans and viruses.

So either ban Java from your system. Or install the latest version.

Do i really need Java?

Do i really need Java?

If you have Windows 7, Not really.

I ditched it a couple of years ago. IE9 and Firefox supports Java Scripts now.

If you have an application that requires it, it will let you know.

Exactly. It's perfectly safe to uninstall.

If some website needs it it will redirect you to the Java install page. If an application needs it, it will install it for you.

I have had some beta versions of browsers that will not install Java. The file downloads and says it is installing, but it is not there. I went back to IE like I normally do.
