1-3 and done

but its safer to replace #3. cash with a cashier check within province or bank draft out of province, as then you have proper proof of payment

for small amounts like 200k baht I dont bother, but for larger amounts I do

Thank you.

This is one of those " a friend of mine questions", honestly.

Usual story of not being here for long and believing the old "must be in a Thai name etc. I didn't really know the answer for him because I got mine on Hire Purchase a few years ago and needed a work permit, proof of income , and guarantor etc.

Thanks again will let him know.

Just as important are the documents you receive when buying a car (or motorcy).

The sellers id and tabien baan copies signed plus the blue reg book and a couple or forms.

Found a previous TV post with the details http://www.thaivisa....-car-ownership/

Ensure the engine and chassis numbers of the vehicle and the colour match the reg book and that the tax is up to date else the new owner will have to pay it.

In general I wouldnt pay until DLT has checked vehicle and accepted transfer to buyer. In addition to above, you also need to pay any outstanding speeding tickets before transfer is accepted
