hi jonny...a couple of days ago in the forum news section it was reported that highway 340 was now supposed to be drained and passable to Suphanburi town from Bang Bua Thong onwards. Let us know how you find it as I have to go into BKK in a couple of weeks for US Embassy and Suan Plu/immigration business and am dreading it...

Just a follow up to this post,, the wife travelled to the airport from Suphan last night via the bang bua thong route which was a no go due to flooding, she's unsure which route she eventually took as she was unfamiliar with the route due to diversions,, however, on the return to Suphan from the airport we joined motorway number 7 and then joined the number 9 ring road driving towards bang pa-in ,, a couple of km before bang pa-in the road was only passable with pick up or bigger, after bang pa-in we took the Asia highway towards ayuthaya, joining highway 347 to bypass ayuthaya and then to route 3263 taking us on into Suphan however at the junction between 3263 and 347 also only passable with pick up truck or bigger ,, we stayed the night in bkk ,,, we left bkk at 9.30am this morning and journey took us 3hrs and 30 minutes

thanks for the report jonny...looks like my info regarding the status of the 340 was premature; the residents of Bang Bua Thong want to keep the 340 flooded for drainage purposes according to reports...

there is a temporary immigration office at the Ampo Mall and some posters have said that the access is good but Ayutthaya still sounds like a disaster area; I would need to use the 3263 to get there from Bang Pla Ma in Suphan and it sounds like a no go...

so looks like the office in Suan Plu in BKK for my yearly immigration business that I have to do soon...right now trying to figure out how to approach from Songphinong in south Suphan...maybe if I used water wings :(

Hi Tutsi, we managed the 3263 ok with our Vigo, the worst part was at the junction turning right onto the Suphan road from the ayuthaya turn off, as we couldn't see where the actual lay of the road was ,,, beginning to wonder if I was going to get the feet wet there ,, hehe

If you're in the bang pla ma area, that would be close to that junction with ayuthaya from Suphan I'm thinking, the wife's sister ilives in bang pla ma where she farms ducks

jonny...there's a considerable distance between our house in Songphinong and that junction that you're talkin' about (3263 to 340) and it's all presently under water...we've got an old Nissan Urvan that may make it but I don't want to trouble the BiL who'll be driving...

3 1/2 hours in the car in flood conditions sounds dreadful, I've been trying to recover from a high blood pressure 'incident' 2 months ago and that's the last thing I need...the BiL has been driving regularly from Songphinong to BKK and knows a way that hopefully will be less hassle...otherwise my wife and her brother will drag my waterlogged corpse in to the immigration office and announce: 'tutsiwarrior is here for his new retirement extension...' and people will start to shout: 'get that dead falang outta here!...'

Hi,

I asked this same question - regarding highway 340 specifically - on another thaivisa forum a couple days ago, and didn't get a conclusive answer.

Has the situation along 340 improved at all since the last post on 21 Nov.?

Thanks

to update re: highway 340, we went thru on Friday 02 Dec inbound and outbound from BKK and it's reduced to 2 lanes from 4 in Bang Bua Thong...no problems inbound in the a.m. but on return in the p.m there was a delay of about 1.5 hrs...

on the other side of the dykes protecting the road the water was chest high and things are a misery...poor folks that have had to live like that for the past 2 months :(
