webfact Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Introduction of the new-style £50 note The new-style £50 note, featuring the renowned 18th century business partnership of entrepreneur Matthew Boulton and engineer James Watt, entered circulation on 2 November 2011. A range of new and enhanced security features have been incorporated into the design of the Boulton and Watt £50 banknote. The banknote is the first in circulation to be signed by Chris Salmon, who was appointed as the Bank's Executive Director - Banking Services and Chief Cashier in April 2011. beano2274 Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 This was posted as a topic last week if I remember correctly, or maybe I read it on the BBC. Anyhow the old ones are still legal tender and will be until the Bank of England decides on a date to remove them from circulation

autan Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 You had a job getting a mug to take the old one, they will have a cow when the see the new one. Take my advice anything ove £20 is a no no.
