Still think it's a pre-order in the U.K.

U.S. launch with Verizon pushed out to Dec. 8.

May be delayed due to some ICS (4.0) issues?

Official, localized Thai product for Google phones has, in the past, taken many, many months, if it happened at all. Grey-market product will be available as soon as someone gets off the plane with one here.

I got one last week. I have come from 3 years of using iphones and I am not really missing it that much tbh. The galaxy nexus is hardware allcelerated and it really shows.

Where did you get it and how much did you pay for it? I think they're only released in Europe so far? I was informed that they will not be released officially in Thailand until next year, I wonder where I will be able to get one now :P

Edit: Nearly 25,000 baht on Ebay. Ugh!

Saw them on sale in Paragon on Sunday, I think it was in the/a Samsung store. Can't remember the price sorry but I think it was as quoted above - around 23,000 or thereabouts. Tested the stylus, it works very well.

A lot of the Thai websites are saying the Galaxy Nexus should be coming in sometime this month. Although most of them are merely translating a news article from CNET at the Galaxy Note launch party, where a Samsung rep confirmed an official release in Southeast Asia of the Galaxy Nexus sometime in Q4 of this year. However they weren't as specific of the date as they were with the Galaxy Note (Nov 18th).

Update: Thai blogs are saying that grey market imports of the Galaxy Nexus is available @ MBK for 25,500 baht. Hopefully that means an official release is in the near future. Official Thai release should be around the 19,000 to 21,000 baht range.

19K range would be good. 21K range I think I'd get an 18K (or less) SGS2 (and install ICS myself). Not sure, will have to see and play with it first I guess.

I found this Nexus S model list, note the differences...especially the Europe/AUS I9023 version which has an LCD screen. :bah:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Google_Nexus_S

Verizon will get a version in Jan or Feb of next year.

In addition to a weakness in 3G radio support currently there are some other issues:

Lack of: Micro SD slot, LED Notification Light, HSPA+ support, and Gorilla Glass Screen (means it can easily be scratched)

Maybe best to wait and see if some local service providers will sponsor this model here in Thailand?

Yes, sorry about that, I am easily confused by the similar model names.

The new version is the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, also known as Samsung Google Nexus Prime, Samsung Google Galaxy Nexus I9250, Samsung Google Nexus 3, Samsung Google Nexus 4G, Samsung Nexus Prime 4G LTE.

In any specs I could find it seems like there is no uSD slot?

AFAIK the Nexus S doesn't have a uSD slot so it's very likely the Nexus Galaxy won't have one either. I think I was reading something about the way not all apps are all happy about running off external memory being the reason.

The screen/resolution on the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus is impressive; just a bit over the limit on what the human eye can discern. I assume they'll roll that into the SGS3?

The penta-band 3G radio is nice; esp. if you go to the U.S. at all. (Use T-Mo or AT&T 3G.)

Still not sure if it has 16 GB or if 32 GB is an option? If only 16 GB then this would be a no-op for me.

I am leaning towards waiting for the SGS3.

Official Thai release for the Galaxy Nexus was just announced today. It will be on sale on the 22nd of December 2011 for 19,900 Baht. The article did not give specs on whether it is 16 or 32 gb. It appears that it is going to be exclusive to AIS. No word for availability from the other carriers.

Cool.

I bet you ha baht it'll be 16gb.

From your own link, 32GB is an option. Probably costs more than the base price though.

I found this "Nexus Review from an iPhone Lover's Perspective" pretty interesting - came away with the impression that this is by far the best Android phone yet, and it's getting to the point where it's really a serious alternative to an iPhone:

http://techcrunch.com/2011/12/14/iphone-galaxy-nexus-review/

What I personally like the best about ICS and the Galaxy Nexus is the user interface - this is IMO the first Android version that doesn't look like garbage. Google has clearly (and finally) gotten some designers worth their money and have decided to compete on that front (similar to what they did with their web UIs, really, they are all starting to look much better). They're not yet at Apple levels, and probably will never get there - but they also don't have to. As long as it's not outright ugly, that's good enough, and it can stand on its own with those features that are better than on the iPhone. Like maps and navigation.

Another important detail: This one has good battery life.

Here's what you need to pay of you want to buy an unlocked one in the US from wirefly or Best Buy or Samsung.

800 bucks for a smartphone? Not very smart.

Every one of those is a Verizon model so perhaps not very smart to buy at any price over $299 (with a 2 year contract; these are CDMA/LTE phones)?

Perhaps an international, unlocked version might be better? Especially for use here in Thailand. Those look to be 19,900 baht

Good point. Yes, these are the first available in the US with the links from the google/nexus/prime/whatever's own website. Unlike their previous HTC/google and Samsung/google collaborations, they are not being offered through a GSM service provider (like T-Mobile). I will search the usual gray market suppliers and see who comes up with a non CDMA model.

The reason they are so cheap there is the price is locked in with a 2 year subscription @ $60/mo (1,860 baht/mo). If you were to buy the phone without a subscription in US or Europe it would be more expensive than here. 19,900 bath ($640) is a good price for a Nexus Galaxy and I for one will be in the queue to get one on the 22th. BTW, it comes with a 8 month promotion with 1.5G traffic/mo for another 320 baht. Compare that to the 1,860 baht that would have cost in USA.
