Microsoft Office/Word Document

Hello and thanks in advance for any forthcomign advice and help. I had a trial version of Microsoft Word which ran out and now wish to write my own will, that is all I will be using wish to do, so I really dont fancy paying out for a kosha pack. Are there any free downloads that I could get which would do the job for me? I am not a computer wizard, so be gently and dont use jargon that will go over my head.

All I need is to be able to type up a will and go back and change details from time to time, like if I moved bank or someone fell out of favour and cut out of the will.

Thanks for any useful advice.

Open Office is great and best of all, it is free. It will do everything you want plus much more.

Does it work with windows 7?. Many thanks

Open Office does work with Win 7. It is so much like Word, that even though I have MS Office and all it's programs, I still prefer to use Open Office. You can save documents in all popular formats and it is totally compatible all MS Products.

For simple word processing like preparing a will, there are a several free alternatives:

There is a simple word processor built-in Windows 7 called WordPad.

How to Use the New WordPad in Windows 7

There also these two on-line word processing alternatives:

For a Full Feature word processor, then Open Office is a good choice.

Whatever you do, stay away from pirated copies of Microsoft Office 2010. Just like pirated copies of Windows 7, it can become invalid within a couple months.

Open Office every time,

unless you wnat some really exotic features in the latest edition of MS Word?

Available in many language versions, if you are not a native English speaker.

I have the British English version so I get the right spell checker.

I have it running under Win 7 64 bit.

No problems at all.

Another alternative to M$ Office is a stand alone word processor called Abiword. It pretty much does everything M$ Word does but is only a 8MB download.

It works with all operating systems including Win 7. You can also find a portable version so you don't need to install it.

IMHO I believe Libre Office (a fork of Open Office) is slightly better now than OO.

Another free alternative is Softmaker Office 2008.
