How I Do Transfer The Camera Photos

Featured Replies

im new to camera's and want to put photos from my camera to a computer.

I know how to do it with my laptop,by taking out the SD Card, but what about if i dont bring my laptop to Thailand.

This is what i plan to do,take photos with my camera,THEn go to a internet shop and somehow trasfer the photos to their computer so i can send them to my email

Does the computer at the internet shop need special software, how can i transfer photos from my nikon,is there a sd card slot in a desktop

It's hard to predict what equipment the internet cafe shops will have, but most do offer SD card readers. And no, if you're shooting jpegs and not raw files no special software will be needed. You'll just transfer the images via email or ftp or whatever way you wish to transfer.

Flash memory card readers are everywhere in Thailand, I've even seen them in 7/11.. and cheap. Off-brands that work fine are available for as little as 150 baht.. so if your internet shop doesn't have a SD card reader you can easily find one inexpensively.

I would avoid connecting your camera directly to the internet shop's USB port. You can probably do this and get away with it, but there are too many issues that may happen with older computers.. If you do chose to do it, most digital cameras have an option (usually it's the default) to use the cameras flash memory card in "USB MASS STORAGE" mode.. and it will work without software or drivers. If you connect a digital camera to a computer and it asks for a driver, or tells you it's installing one, you're probably not in USB mass storage mode..

Have a nice trip in Thailand.

To be on the safe side, buy your own card reader.

It will plug in to any computer with a usb cable.

Cost $10

Then you can simply attach the files to an e-mail and send them off.

Do you really need to do this, except for a security backup?

A 4GB card will hold a lot of photos. :D
