Chiang Mai Couple Need Vietnam Marriage Registration

Recommended Posts

I am a US citizen. I married a Vietnamese woman 18 months ago in Singapore. When I tried to get her into Korea, where I have permanent residency, the Singapore embassy of Korea said I had to get my wife a visa from her home country.

So we hit Vietnam for the simple matter of registering our marriage in her little backwoods hometown. Supposedly a routine affair that can be denied only if a wife were coerced into marriage or was sold, the registration process took on its own life and turned Kafkaesque.

We bailed out of VN and have been hanging out in Thailand. We got six IGCSE books and their revision guides to pass the time. Life is good.

But we want to try registering our marriage in VN again. My wife doesn't know a soul in Saigon, which would allow her to transfer her family book, therefore getting us out of the clutches of little backwoods hometown officials.

I sought no help last time, but we probably need all the advice we can get.

Suggestions would be much appreciated.

You wife should be able to get the visa for Korea in Singapore if she has a residence permit for Singapore.

Edit: Hang on, your topic title states "Chiang Mai couple".

Are you living in Thailand or Singapore?

Does you wife have a residence visa for Thailand?

Have you contacted the Korean Embassy in Bangkok?
