came back again from the Toyota dealer and nothing new, no Fortuner available, I mean I ordered it back in August and should have got it in October. But now I am not sure if I can get it in January or February.

What kind of SUV is immediately available in Thailand at the moment? I mean not sure if I would change to another car but let's just get the options? :jap:

You may need to do the ring around, but the following have the most chance be able to be found in-stock at a dealer, so long as you're not going to be fussy about colors :) Failing that, each of these is in production, and waiting queues are normally short (i.e. 2-6 weeks).

Chevrolet Captiva (except the newly released diesel model - it'll be a decent wait)

Ford Escape

Ford Everest

Hyundai Tuscon

Isuzu MU-7

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

Nissan X-Trail

Mitsu PJS 4 weeks wait for 2wd, and several dealers have 4x4 in stock. The rest are not on par with fortuna ;)

HYUNDAI TUCSON on reports and reviews appears to be the leader at this moment, notice they are in stock here for Immediate delivery. [1.7 million] also appears Chery Tiggo @ 845k and Chery Cross 915k are in stock, or in the showroom.

Wait a year lots of new ones [well 4 new ones so far delivery Q3 or Q4 of 2012]

Down south no idea around BKK the new Kia Sportage

Have seen the new revamped Fortuner and Vigo at Ubon from Deeyiam Toyota. :)

And? Does it look good, should I wait for the Fortuner? Will all newely produced Fortuners look like the new one or will it still be the old look?

Same looking motor, just the grill and the bigger centrally fitted hood scoop are different and minor body stuff. Must say the Vigo looks great with the new grill, scoop and head lights. :) Remember the new stuff has the big much wider, central hood scoop.

Bought (for my company) two captiva new turbo diesels last week, got them today.

hak

just came back from the Chevy Showroom, saw a Captiva LT and LTZ, and I was promised to get anyone in my wanted color before the end of the year. Now I don't know what to do, should I go for the Captiva spend 200k more for that car, but loose more in the resale value after 4-5 years? Is the resale value really so bad? Or should I wait for the ordered Fortuner, but not sure when I will get it. And then I would need a rented car for at least two weeks from now on.

Also I am not sure if Toyota will give me back the 10k Downpayment for the ordered Fortuner...

What should I do?

Enlighten me.

Fortuner is old technology which has been tweaked one too many times in my opinion. It seems they've run out of grill ideas because the new facelift looks weird. Interior is particularly old hat, full of hard plastics. They are a dime a dozen and once Toyota produce a whole new replacement watch their value plummet.

I'm on my third Fortuner (company cars) and to be honest have enjoyed them all. But when I look at them now they really are beginning to look dated.

I believe next year a Fortuner replacement will be released. Pity help those who buy this year.

New Captiva does look nice. As does the new Honda CRV. I also wouldn't discount the Koreans. They've come leaps and bounds over the past few years.

thanks for your answer. I agree the Captiva looks so good, that's why I am thinking so hard on making up my mind. I mean I paid 10k downpayment to Toyota. I am sure I can say good bye to that money. And besides the Captiva I like is about 200k more expensice then the Fortuner I orderd. So what about the deprivation of the Captiva over a couple of years? Yes if there is a new Fortuner, then the old one will loose also more, but we don't know if that will be so much. Also the CRV is a great car but it has only 5 seats and therefore is not in my list. I would have liked to see the Santa Fe available in Thailand, unfortunately it is not, because that is a nice car as well.

I know that the Fortuner is based on the Pick-Up but I also know that the new 2012 model is much improved to the previous verisons, especially inside. If it was a bad car not so many would have bought one in Thailand.

I need to make up my mind tomorrow. should I go for the Captiva and get it in a week and say good bye to 10k or should I wait for the Fortuner which may come mid or end of January or in February or???

Thats why ive never put down a Deposit. They promise everything to get the cash off you.Its a Swizz, why not give you your Cash Back if they are so wonderful they can sell them in seconds. I doubt if the New Captiva will drop as much as the Cruze, or their other Korean Junk. Its a good looker , so Thais will buy them second hand. IMO. Like with Honda my Wife says give us a Call when you have XYZ in Stock so i can see it,never been kept waiting by them.coffee1.gif

when I almost made up my mind to get the Captiva (Toyota will refund the 10k downpayment due to the circumstances of flooding) so I called the salesman from Chevy and now he says he doesn't have the car I want and can't get it until the end of the year. post-4641-1156694606.gif He is still trying to locate one from another dealer but I doubt he can make it. It seems they do not even have a central database...

Oh man what should I do...ohmy.gif

yes and therefore I guess I would be willing to wait another week, but that would mean no car over new year or I would need to rent one.

NO decision made yet as Chevy dealer did not come back to me.
