Just had a new offering at McDonnalds [their new cheeseburger] and found that their photography is much better than their cook. The promo pics looked like my favorite.....burger king whopper jr, but it was a terrible copy. Meat was paper thin, lettuce has been sitting in a warmer for an hr and wilted and there was NO tomato [as pictured].

Just a warning........

That's because it really isn't meant to be consumed. You didn't mistake it for food did you? You are supposed to take it home set it on the counter and wait...and wait....and wait. 5 years later it will still look about the same. You can't do that with food.

I don't even bother walking into MacDonald absolute junk.

I will tear up a bigmac anytime of day, regular cheeseburgers are ok too.

But i think something is up with their fried chicken, i think its chemically preserved in some way...i use to work a graveyard shift and MD was the only thing delivering...after eating i felt lifeless and worthless, like they stripped everything out of the chicken, leaving only something that represented meat on a physical level.

I tried it once and thought it was terrible and I usually think their food is OK to eat from time to time. KFC is WAY better. Did I get a bad batch? I am too cheap to try it again to find out. :D

My Amerikan x wife used to call McD's chicken 'Chicken Mc tumors'.

But in their defense, I do think their eggmcmuffin is a fair bkfst

I agree. I just wish pancakes were on the menu in Thailand like everywhere else (unless that has changed since I have been overseas.)

Im also confused about Mcdonalds huge popularity. Their burgers taste like shit, but loads of people eat there anyway. Is it because of that ugly clown and the toys in the happy meal box?

Burger King is way better, but still not good.

ughhhh...got supremely ripped off by Burger King last night, the picture of the 79 baht bacon BBQ double decker burger is nothing like the real life specimen.

It was smaller than a MD burger and more expensive! Didn't even come with 2 beef patties like in the store front banner, only one...

Bastards got me.

Yes, it has a huge amount to do with Rotten Ronnie and the kiddie meals. That's the soul of McD's marketing -- hook the kids. The influence of children on parent's spending decisions is very powerful and McD's are experts at getting into children's heads. If the children are fed ample quantities of McD's, then they will be patrons when they grow up. Then generation will follow generation, and so on. Look at how McD's advertising is almost exclusively aimed at children.

Personally, I'm with those who never set foot in their establishments.

BTW, I haven't eaten KFC in ages either. The last time I went to one in Thailand (many years ago) the chicken was a strange pinky color and had a weird, stringy texture.

it's not that MacDonalds burgers taste like shit, it's that they taste like shit uniformly anywhere that you order them in the world and ye gotta admire the quality control...

'I'll have 2 regular cheeseburgers please and a small coke, no fries...' and ye never got to wait more than 2 minutes when you place that order, regular cheeseburgers are like a secret handshake and are mysteriously always available in the 'prepared burger' rack behind the counter...

and there is a sinister implication when Steve Miller shouts 'Gimme a cheeseburger!' at the end of 'Livin' in the USA', it's like he knows that you can't run from cheeseburgers...

McDonalds here in Thailand don't taste like anything you get in the USA. I'm a big sausage, egg mcmuffin and big mac fan in the US. I don't know what kind of meat they use here but it don't taste like beef. Here I rather eat at Burger King.

IMO, Burger King is MUCH better in the U.S., but McDonalds is the same everywhere - including Thailand - but much cheaper than BK.

I'm worried about your cholesterol UG. Could you post the results here for our analysis and piece of mind?

Cheers! biggrin.gif

Back in the day, Micky Dee's had the best french fries around. That was before the health philosophy kicked in and they had to switch from frying in lard to vegetable oil. As a lieutenant, often working too late to cook at home, I used to drive through at Wendy's for the burger, then drive through at McD's for the fries.

I go to McD's maybe 5 or 6 times a year, but I like their Big Mac better than the Whopper, and their Filet O' Fish much better than the fish sandwich any other chain offers. I don't eat much fast food in Thailand, but McD's would be my second most visited place after KFC (I like the Zinger sandwich.)
