Bought Dtac And Ais Dongle, What Do I Do Now?

Ok i bought an AIS Aircard 3G dongle as backup internet and also bought DTAC Aircard 3G. From reading they seem to be reasonable choices.

Bought them in IT City in Chiang Mai about 1,500 baht each. Now they didnt have much english but i was trying to figure out how you enable them, is it top up, can you top up online etc

Anyway the AIS one seems to be running good but getting about 100 ping, 1mb down and 0.15 up. The DTAC card is dialup, 400-1500 ping, 0.15 down and 0.5 up.

I did notice a message on the AIS one that said i had no credit but an sms came through saying i had 30 hours free wifi at 1mb. I cant really figure out what the setup is on the DTAC card but it says i have just 5baht credit so my question is can i choose from different packages, ideally i want best speed and if so whats the best way to top them up, id rather internet but 711 would work fine too if thats not possible. Is there different packages to choose from. Is the reason im getting crap speeds on the DTAC because i have a crap free plan or will it improve if i pick a better plan.

Im moving soon so it might just be a bad location im in now, maybe ill wait and see how they perform in the new apartment im moving to. Im getting true broadband in the new apartment installed next week but i want these as backups in case they go down, there is internet in the apartment block but i presume it will be complete crap. Theres two of us using laptops hence the need for 2 backups in case True goes down for a while

it's not free so you need a plan. First you need to top up some balance and then purchase a data plan.

Search this forum, you operators web pages for details. If all fails call them and ask.

Scrap the DTAC SIM, as they may not have 3G coverage in Chiang Mai. Luckily for you, TRUE H/TrueMove/'My' uses the same frequency as DTAC, so you might be able to use one of their SIMs in the DTAC modem for now in order to obtain 3G.

Ok great i see a couple of packages on the website, it looks like i topup, then dial a code and its enabled.

Silly question but since ive never done it how can you topup, online or in 711 and if 711 what is the topup i ask for, dont want to go ordering the wrong one, does it go by the operator like 087, 086 083 so i just ask for 1000 baht 086 credit or something?

For the dtac one, are you sure those sims will work with the software, i just replace sim and away i go or is it very hit and miss. Which is better in your opinion TRUE H/TrueMove/'My' or AIS, i didnt really want 2 AIS cause i presume if one goes both will go

I don't know which modem you have, whether it is unlocked or whether it is locked down by software. But usually it is just a case of entering the TRUE H/TrueMove connection details. Perhaps pop into a True shop and get them to do it for you.

I also don't know your exact location in order to let you know which is better. These things are fluid at the moment.

You can buy a standard TRUE Inter SIM for 49 baht or a Net SIM and apply a package thus when necessary. Alternatively, you can enquire about the superior TRUE H service.

You can top up in 7/11 directly to your number. Don't forget to add on the 7% VAT to the quoted 3G prices.
