muchogra
I took my wife and her relatives from Canada to spend a couple of days in Pattaya. We bought some seafood near the Jomtien pier and cooked them at the hotel room. That was fun. Before heading back to Bangkok, we stopped by Nuklua fresh market in Pattaya and bought some fresh seafood and dried shrimp, squid ,etc. I took some pictures at the fresh market and am wondering if I would be missing these once we move up to CM. Another one very alive is this narm sao Thai when we took the Chopraya Cruise a few days ago. This Chopraya Cruise is not as nice as the Chaopraya Princess and the Riverside Cruise we took a few months ago as far as the food is concern. This one didn't have salmon and prawn. This one cost B1,000 per head as opposed to B840 (after 20% discount) at the Riverside and B960 at the Chaopraya (also after some discount, forgot how much). All are worth the money if one has never been to one before. Each trip lasts 2 hours with live music and you can dance too.
Rider808
Yep, the market next to the US consulate has all that stuff. Don't know about the boat trip though.

muchogra
It looks like fresh market doesn't appeal to most expats - male or female. To some, fresh markets are dirty and unhygienic, they prefer the clean and air-conditioned supermarkets. It's not surprising that I seldom see farangs in fresh markets. Time has changed. The newer generation, even our own kids, avoid fresh markets. Our kids are still alright, they cook 2 or 3 times a week but my wife used to cook everyday when we were younger. My wife did not know how to cook until she married to me. She had no complaints going to school, working, taking care of the kids, and cleaning up our house. And she supposedly is from the so-called hi-so family too! Perhaps it's her tolerance that we've been married so long. Nowadays I do most of the cooking since I enjoy it. I think my wife also tricks me into doing it by constantly praising how good a cook I am. Anyway, by the Naklua market in Pattaya is the seashore where small fishing boats bring in their fresh catch to the market a few times a day. ARISTIDE
If you mean fresh off the boat then it's impossible, but I've seen boxes of seafood like those in the picture being sold near the US consulate. Yep, the market next to the US consulate has all that stuff. Don't know about the boat trip though. I think the OP mentioned fresh seafood. jaideeguy
Makro hang dong road has the best and freshest seafood in CM, but since the floods, the stock was down a bit, but now picking back up again. I've heard that most of CM's seafood is trucked up directly from Rayong and is less than 12 hrs from the boat.
