Home Pro Flood Victim Help At Impact

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone besides myself was completely over-sold on the advertising of the huge sale and price discounts at the Home Pro Expo at Impact? My wife and I were there yesterday and saw prices on most products that were actually higher than prices I've seen posted in Home Pro, Global House, etc. It almost appears that using the "help flood victims" term is a ruse to get customers in the door.

Interesting situation. HomeWorks is also having a 70% off sale at Ratchapreuk and other locations as well I guess. No written mention of a sale for helping flood victims that I could see. We were told that a certain brand steam cleaner was on 'special' for 8600 baht to help flood victims and that the normal price was 15k. We purchased one as we could use it. Today we were in an unrelated shop and they had the exact same article for sale. The price? 8600 baht. Maybe just over zealous salesmen pitching a line to get sales. I would doubt that the Central Group would be involved in illegal advertising.

Word of advice:

Never, ever buy anything from a trade show here. In the West, companies use these shows to offer discounts on select products in an attempt to win new customers. The fees are built into the company's advertising and promotion budgets. In Thailand, shops generally raise their prices at these shows in order to pay for the cost of renting the show space. They view it more like a retail model than a promotion. Expensive rent means higher prices.

If you see something you like, get a business card and then go visit them in their own shop after the show. 90% of the time the item will be cheaper that way.

I used to buy furniture at shows like this until I learned better.
