Buy Beach Sand In Bangkok

Featured Replies

I'm looking to get some beach-style sand for my kids play sandbox.

I've only been able to find construction grade sand from building yards (not very clean to play in). Anyone know where to look for this kind of thing? Or do i need to drive to the beach with some bags and shovels?

There are around 10 million sand bags around the city looking for a home.

But seriously, I think you will need to go to Ko Samet to get some nice nice sand.

Hi Dave .You need to find an Aquarium shop and ask

for Silica Sand (might not be name used here in Thailand)

but have seen it in aquarium shops here in Chiang Mai

Its very find and white, great for kids to play in, but dont

forget to cover it when not in use as cats will use it as toilet !

Regards Worgeordie

Ants can be a problem if food gets into the box, but can easily be controlled with a mixture of borax and sugar and or borax and peanut butter. Non-Toxic and mixture can be made in a lid and placed near the sandbox when not in use. 1 teaspoon borax/1 teaspoon sugar.

TOYS 'R US sells sandbox sand in it's US stores; maybe they do here also. I believe there is one at the BIG-C shopping center on Rama-4.
