I checked google but did not see any clear answers to my question.

I use Cyberlink Power2go software to burn cd/dvds. I know there is an option to duplicate cds but I have never used it.

I want to make a useable 100% duplicate copy of my original install cd so I can store it elsewhere as my install backup.

Thanks

I believe you are allowed to make one archival copy as a backup. The agreement is to not duplicate for piracy purposes. The COA on the computer is the licensing method.

You can make an iso file from any cd dvd and save the file. If you lose your disk burn the iso to a cd or dvd and you have a replacement. or you can mount the iso file in a virtual cd rom and use it like a real cd. I use the dd command from the command line in linux to make iso's of dvd's. I mount games that require a cd installed to be used by calling up the iso file rather then messing with the cd and the iso in virtual drive runs faster anyway. I beleave windows has a dd command too but not sure anyway it would be the heart of any software version doing the same thing and once you read the manual you will see it is easy to form a one line command that does what you need.

Just don't distribute the iso's or try to make more then one install of windows - I did that and they asked me which one I wanted to remove or they will un regester both so I had to get another iso for the virtual install rather then using the one from my own disks. whistling.gif

My netbook doesn't have a CD/DVD drive so I copied my Windows 7 DVD to a Kingston data traveler and installed the OS off the memory stick. No problem at all.

I bought a new desk top computer with 8 GB of RAM so changed to 64 bit Win 7 Ultimate from a DVD that a friend gave me. He told me my legitimate 32 bit key would work. It did.
