Does anyone know what happened to the Crocodile & Tiger World in Phuket Town? I drove past the other day and there was a 'For Rent' sign on it. I guess it is closed. Any idea when it shut down? I wonder why they didn't hold out for the high season....

it was open early in the year for sure...i drove by yesterday and there was a sign reading that the 19-rai of land went under the gavel mid-december asking price Bt19m. It's amazing how it looks now...all the building removed and it looks like it has been vacant for a decade...lots of closed-down businesses in that area

I visited in 2009, and on the day we visited, I saw no other visitors... it's main function seems to have been breeding crocs to sell for skins.. and they had a fair number or tigers too. I read reports that they had been investgated for illegal animal trading. It certainly was an odd place.
