Tolley Posted January 2, 2012 Share Posted January 2, 2012 There is quite a good thai place in Big C next to Fuji. I dont know what the name of it is but for Pattaya it is pretty good. The best Thai food I have had is in Sydney where there are many outstanding thai eateries. I think it is because the ingredients are better. Of course it is substantially more expensive. Oysters & mussles from U.S./N.Z. & delicious cold water fish.There are such places in Bangkok. Thai seafood is overrated by those who haven't tasted any better , I quite like the Thai sand & mud crabs but Alaskan snow crabs are of course better. Other than ceviche which would be very doable here (fresh fish, potatoes, corn, chilies, lime) and potentially something Thais would love, there is also the very distinctive Peruvian grilled chicken (must have their special green hot sauce), saltado stir fry dishes with french fries which could be with pork, beef, and chicken which are actually a fusion Chinese-Peruvian dish using soy sauce flavor. Plus of course Peruvian rice dishes with cilantro, also kind of Asian-fusiony. Question, is Peruvian food known in the UK and the continent these days? Anyway, these kinds of popular Peruvian foods seem a natural for export to Asia, but it would take a real risk taker to try something so new here. It doesn't seem so easy. All I have thought of so far is just to start a new thread where people are invited to contribute their own ideas for PATTAYA MUST EATS. I think that would be OK and people may learn about dishes available locally that at least one other person has loved. However, that won't be a winnowed, edited list as in the OP example, so something that might be objectively worthy would be on an equal footing with a silly suggestion, such as a McDonald's cheeseburger. Unless someone has a better idea on how to start this, I'll probably just start a thread and invite people to post about their own suggestions, without any editing. Then from there, maybe there is another future winnowing, and probably most likely, there is not. Again this idea is about specific wonderful dishes as opposed to entire restaurant recommendations.
