Photobook Software

Featured Replies

Am looking to download some free software so that i can design my own photobooks, to then get printed at my local photo shop in chiang mai. Wondering if posters have any recommendations? Not that keen on randomly downloading what comes up in my google search.

The main criteria is that i can choose from various book sizes so that it will exactly match the shop's sizes, cutting out any possible loss of picture or text between design on computer and printed form in the book.

Go and see Photo Bug's book system. The free software package that they provide (Image Pals) is OK if you're not up to using a program like InDesign or a professional layout tool. As you'd expect, the software is friendly to use, the sizes are geared to work perfectly with their printer and the results are really very good. Check out the the rather dog-eared samples on display in the shop.

Well, pop gave me a cd of software which he said came from canon. I've not put it in my computer yet because it seems it's the thai version, and it just got me thinking that i could download something decent.

What is image pals? Unless it's the name for the canon downloaded software, i'm not sure why he failed to give me a copy. I'd love to just get the options that fit his printing system for the moment. I'm picking up my first book from him tomorrow which i did using iphoto on my mac.

If you want Canon software in English it can be downloaded from Singapore for specific printers and Easy Photo Print EX is from my use a good free program that gets updated.

It might be that the install detects Thai encoding on your Windows and therefore installs the software with the menus in Thai.

I've had that with some software, and after installing, you can look through the options of the installed software to change the menus from Thai to English.

Now you mention it I think the software that Pop hands out is only in Thai. I think Image Pals is the name of the book making system that uses the Canon hardware and Lopburi is right - you can download it from Singapore. Take care that the options and sizes on the Singapore version are doable on PhotoBug's machine.
