Facebook WTF

Featured Replies

I am trying to help a young friend to set up his facebook account.

The first thing we had to do is set up an e-mail account

Easy enough with g-mail

Then the facebook account, easy for the first step

Then is suggests he adds friends.......... from where?

He has only just got an e-mail account. :bah:

Next add a photo

Browse, select the image, what could be easier??

The image selected does not come up in the filename window of FB.....................

I tried transferring the image from his phone first then adding it,

same problem.

I these social networking sites were supposed to be intuitive??

My impression so far, is very unfriendly.

Jesus christ, 600 million + people have been able to dio it. Try again.

My first guess would be that the picture is in an exotic format or that the file extension has been messed up.

Mac or Windows?

umm....?

Much more easy to open a facebook account than to close one.

I did not find any better solution than changing my normal page to a fan page.

As well, if someone is looking for fb friends I have 5,000+ of them for sale at the price of five baht each cool.png

Windows 7, standard jpg image............................

It should be so simple???????????????

I am not a newbie, by any means, having been using computers for over 30 years.

BTW I did try several times.

Type in some friends' names in the "Search" box at the top of the FB page. I've found it hit or miss, but usually you find who you are looking for, if they are already on FB.

Haha spot on! When a ten year old in [insert random 3rd world country here] can do it, the only thing writing a post like this will do is expose yourself :)

Could be your security settings.

FB uses some very sophisticated js and iframe tech.

Check in your browser settings if something could possibly conflict with the upload through iframes.

Also check that your Adobe Flash is up to date.

Another way would be to try with Firefox.

Thanks for that suggestion, it worked exactly as I expected with FF

A bad mark for MS and IE version 9.0.4 :bah:

Not necessarily - the root causes of such cross-browser compatibility problems are often surprising, without in depth analysis of the problem, I wouldn't blame IE 9.
