I've been prescribed Dexamphetamine by a doctor in Australia. I have a 5 month prescription left. I don't want to go all the way to Australia just to get a refill on my meds. Is there any way I can have my meds sent here from Australia. I have a pharmacy that can refill them and will send them anywhere I am. I just don't know what the legality is of having them brought into thailand via the post.

Thank you!

Unfortunately this drug is altogether banned in Thailand, i.e. illegal even for medicinal use on doctor's prescription. Furthermore, of all the things likely to grab the attention of the Thai authorities any type of "speed" tops the list.

I would definitely not recommend having it mailed to you.

You may also be running a legal risk bringing it into the country with you and possessing it while here, even with a prescription and most especially if in more than a small quantity.

I have never been able to determine the legal status of having a drug for personal use prescribed and obtained in a country where it is legal for medical use with you in Thailand when that drug is a banned substance here. At best it is a grey area and at worse....

If it is at all possible I would consult your primary doctor about the possibility of swirching to a drug which is legal here. Depending on why it has been prescribed for you, options would include methylphenidate (Ritalin), Concerta, Strattera, various caffeine preparations, fencamafin, modafinil. Note that all of these are strictly controlled substances in Thailand so still subject to a lot of regulation, but they are at least legal for use under medical supervision, which what you are on now is not.

In the case of fencamafin and modafinil, although approved for medical use, there are no brands licensed here yet so it is unavailable , thus if put on wither of those you would need to plan ion getting an adequate supply in Oz. the other drugs mentioned are available here from a hospital pharmacy on prescription so you would potentially be able to refill here, a medical record and letter from your doctor in Oz stating the need for it would help.

P.S. Deleted your post in an older thread which duplicates this one.
