For any Orthopedic surgery you are best off in Maharaj Nakorn if you don't mind blending in with the nice local people at the waiting room(s)

The same surgeons are also operating at Ram but then you pay double (or triple) because your room will have wallpaper instead of paint :-)

My parents' friend had a hip replacement there and 3 years later still very happy with it, and job well done.

Maharaj also has private rooms if you like.

I strongly recommend the Rajavej hospital. I went there and was seen by Doctor Choksupan. He was recommended to me by my Local GP in Loi Khroh Road.

He did a thorough examination and X-rays and advised me that I did not need hip replacement and cured the problem with ease. Whereas other surgeons I had visited in CM ( before consulting my GP) were keen to operate and take my money.

Also his fees for examination were way below other agencies.

Now 18 months later, I still have no problems with the hip.

If you call Natasha, who speaks excellent English, she will guide you through the examination and will accompany you during your visit to the hospital.

She is the Foreign visitors co-ordinator. Her number is 085-2255067 or 053-801999 and ask for extension 177

Good luck

I presume the OP has already had tests and has been told he needs a hip replacement.

No harm in seeing Dr Chuksopan at Rajavej, but I'd advise trying to find someone who has actually had a successful hip replacement and see what you think of their doctor. I'm sure if anyone has had a successful hip replacement, they would be happy to share their details privately with you. Don't rush in, get at least 3 opinions.

i had a full hip replacement [thats a ball and joint] just over 2 years ago at ram, the doc had to be pursuaded to do the op, claiming i was too young, even though the x rays clearly showed' bone on bone', couldnt have asked for better treatment and care, cost around 220,000b, titanium joints, inclusive, i was on my feet within 48hrs obviously on crutches, was back on the bike after 3 months, which wasnt wise i guess, docs name i think was paiboon, 95% happy with the result, nothing is 100%.

Paiboon has a good reputation,......and a great sense of humour.

A friend of mine had both his hips replaced. He told me he was still awake when they were doing the surgery. Were you joking around during the surgery?

I presume Raindancer also had tests and was told he needed a hip replacement. So step one is to be certain surgery is really needed, isn't it?

Indeed it is, hence the three opinion recommendation.

Raindancer said he cured the problem with ease.........what was the problem and what was the cure?
