Euro 2012 - Which Country To Visit To Get On A Better Timezone

Featured Replies

So with all 3 of Ireland's games on at 3am Thai time im looking for a good option of somewhere to visit that will

a - Have pubs open that i can watch the game in and soak up the atmosphere (If theres a lot of irish thats a bonus)

b - Not too expensive to fly to from Thailand

c - Not too expensive for accomodation

The favourite so far is Australia however its going to be around 6am there, better than 3am but still not great, if it was noon or higher i wouldnt be even asking this question

Las Vegas is another option, it will be noon there but the downside there is its going to be expensive, flights seem to be in the 1k region compared to 600 for Aussie

Poland is just crazy, hotels starting at 1,500 for 10 days and thats the bottom of the barrel and quickly moves to 2k+, the euro camps are cheaper at about 80 euro for a tent but wouldnt look forward to having to queue for an hour to have a cold shower in the morning and a tent might be ok for a night or two at a concert but id say 10 days would turn into a nightmare.

Am i missing any obvious ones or does Thailand have exceptions for big tournaments like this and allow later opening hours, staying in Chiang Mai but would travel if there was somewhere that was showing the games. Would rather save up my holiday time to travel around thailand but ill crack up sitting at home watching the games and love the atmosphere back in Europe especially since its being so long since we were in a major tournament finals.

MrIreland, I think you are not quite correct in your timing. Our 3 games kick off at 20.45 CET which is 5 hours behind Thailand in the summer is it not? That would be a KO at 1.45 am Thai time.

Nonetheless it is a pain in the ass to have to watch games at this hour as I well know from seeing the odd CL games. One of the reasons I would never live in Thailand is as I am a sports nutter it is bloody inconvient to have to be watching most games in the middle of the night.

Would I be correct in thinking most middle east countries would be 2 hours behind CET which would make it a 10.45pm ko?. Not too bad time wise but the heat would be appaling in June. Maybe South Africa would be an option time wise not sure about cost wise . Plenty of Paddies in Joburg and Cape Town.

Good luck in your quest.

Some are 2 and some are 3 in front.

Several pubs in Pattaya stay open for the stupid o'clock games.

And aussieland is either 3 or 4 hrs behind Thailand. So would be perfect evening games for you

Lots of Irish. Way too many intact

Correct. At present Melbourne is 4 hours ahead of Thailand. Ideal for watching the Australian Tennis.

I have to admit i cannot muster up any enthusiasm whatsoever to bother to watch a dog average England team led by that vile captain.

Best place to watch Ireland is at the Swan in Stockwell. ph34r.png
