Everyone who has given his phone number to a bargirl knows the routine: buffalo died, mama sick, need help with XYZ...

The newest I have heard on another forum is "my friend has birthday, can I ring the bell and you pay next time you come?"

...

Anyway, when the novelty of that new demand wore off, I thought about Thai guys and I wondered if they get the same kind of threadbare requests from girls?

How do they handle it?

That is a good one! lol

I doubt thai guys do get those sorts of requests when It comes to money, most of the bar-girls that have thai boyfriends / giks on the side rely on them (the bargirl) for money I would of thought...?

Keeping in mind it is exceptable to let your girl go off and work with falang then come back to deliver some money after she has taken care of the family and kids.

I had a pretty good request a while back from one, she wanted to give her friend 3000 THB because her current boyfriend wasnt giving her money, why would I have to be responsible for her friends / boyfriend not giving her money...!

Just have to laugh. Honestly, it would be stupid of these girls NOT to ask. If you don't ask, you don't get. And since some farangs would actually cough up the money, why not ask? As for the Thai guys...they'd never fall for it.

Just like the Nigerian scam letters - obviously more people fall for it than one would think. rolleyes.gif

You would think with today's technology, forums like this and the amount of books that have been published on farang and bargirls... that the younger generation of whore / love travellers would get street smart quicker... well that's not the case. For whatever reason be it stunning looks and smart talkers, dumb shits like us still fall for it.

True, but some requests are valid. I don't mind helping out occasionally providing they don't use me as an ATM.

What I find annoying is when you warn some gal not to do something and she does it anyway, and then comes asking for money when the inevitable happens.

I got a call a few years back-i can not come see you today but i will send my friend take care you,ok?

I've had that one as well, and always laugh. Sometimes I even agree, but only if I know what the friend looks like.

Indeed. Just look at all the new houses that are being built in NE in the gf's name.

You just reminded me of a story my friend M----- told me many years ago...probably around 1980.

M----'s father had worked in Thailand for many years and M----- grew up and went to school in Bangkok. He spoke fluent Thai although he was in fact half farang.

Mike used to hang around Patpong and he knew many of the bargirls by name. They knew he spoke Thai so they didn't try to b-------t him.

One day this bargirl M------ knew told him in Thai that she needed 3000 baht (this was 1980, so that was a lot of money) but she didn't see anybody in the bar that night who looked likely to give it to her. Unless someone showed up soon, she guessed she wasn't going to get that money.

M---- figured, nothing ventured nothing gained, so he said he might be good for 3000 baht if she was willing to work for it.

She was, but insisted on negotiating the price "per item" and on advance payment for services specified. They agreed on price and off they went.

In the morning, despite his best efforts M----- still had some "change" left over. She agreed to keeping the tab open, and on giving him credit for future purchases. According to M----- she kept the contract to the letter. And M----- made use of the credit also.

I guess in her way, she was an honest business woman.

O course, I'm not sure you would find a bargirl like that today.

Agree entirely about asking.

Not sure that the Thai guys (at this level) would be in a position to be asked - although they frequently fall for the sin sod trick, even if they have to borrow money to pay it !!

There was a particular BG that I was quite fond of a few years ago and she was so good at her job that when she asked me to borrow 3,000 baht, I did it (for the first and only time ever) as I figured she had earned it The funny thing is that she actually paid me back and never asked me again - even though I have known her for yonks now. I guess I got lucky, but I would not try it again. huh.png

Not that the Nigerians are looking to marry anyone or introduce them to their parents. ;)

Great story... but your last sentence I have to question. I know a Thai woman just like that and she always paid me back with what she had to trade. Because I was always generous with her I seemed to get preferential treatment. She's off in some other part of Thailand now and I still miss her, and so do a few of her other customers.

Nice story, but in general "past favors hold no future value in Thailand". Keeping a fat carrot in front of them is a much better strategy.

That is true most of the time, but as I stated above, there are exceptions, and I've experienced more than a few. When you are actually on a "friend" basis here in Thailand you will often be surprised occasionally. Most of the working girls have been stung and their feelings hurt so many times that they put up a shield of armour that is hard to penetrate... but it can be done.

18) Not to discuss the specifics of prostitution.Thailand has a visible sex industry, and acknowledgment of that fact is not forbidden. However ThaiVisa is not the place to seek or give information on this topic, regardless of your sexual habits, preferences or orientation.
