Pheu Thai official vows to sue

The Nation on Sunday February 19, 2012 1:00 am

BANGKOK:-- Pheu Thai Party deputy spokesperson Sunisa Lertpakawat said yesterday she would file a defamation suit on Friday against Democrat Party Songkhla MP Sirichok Sopha for saying Sunisa lost her job at Channel 5 because she didn't show up for work.

According to Sunisa, Sirichok, while speaking on a programme on Blue Sky channel, also accused of her changing her last name three times. Sunisa also accused Sirichok of making statements insulting to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

Sunisa said Sirichok could not deny making the statements because the programme can be replayed online.

The Thai press agreed that the Democrats hit below the belt in their attacks on Yingluck over a recent luncheon appointment at the Four Seasons Hotel, Sunisa said.

Pheu Thai Party deputy spokesman Jirayu Huangsab defended Yingluck over the hotel luncheon, saying that as the prime minister - and someone who is wealthy - she did not need to go to hotels.

"If the Opposition wants to poke fun with [talk of] extramarital affairs, then they should no longer be the Opposition. They are only good at slinging mud and using suggestive language," the spokesman said.

I accuse the Opposition for running to the judges.

Same applies to the PTP

<deleted>

If the PTP have a problem with a Democrat Party MP, roast 'em in Parliament.

Politicians from all stripes will criticise their opposites in the media. Fix political issues politically, and leave the dam_n courts to fix the murderers, or whatever.

The only problem could be if the Media is predominently associated with one side of the political divide, giving that side more of a megaphone than another.

But that is another problem, to be solved differently.

Marked in my agenda lest I forget to check on Friday/Saturday wink.png

mmm ... Why do they always wait a week before doing something? Is it so that everyone forgets about it by then?

One may be excused to think so, but it may be related to the need to document any suit before you can file it. Without at least some documentation your suit it unlikely to be accepted for consideration.

People who support tyranny, dictatorial regimes and injustice rarely favor checks and balances like court systems.

Your position is not surprising.

That also allows time for a second fitting, and final stitch-up.

Not sure this makes sense.

Normally tyranny, dictatorships and injustices are associated with coup perpetrators.

Those coming to Governance via democratic elections are generally considered otherwise.

Pheu Thai deputy spokesperson Sunisa Lertpakawat was a Lieutenant and an anchor for Army-run Channel 5 who jetted off to London to interview ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra in June 2007. At that time it was said

"

She is now in trouble so deep she can hardly fathom it. The month she spent chasing Mr Thaksin for the interviews could give the army enough grounds to dismiss her for taking leave without informing her superiors.

Government officials in this country are governed by stringent disciplinary regulations which make it mandatory for them to secure permission prior to travelling overseas, even for holidays

"

Maybe no defamation suit will be filed rolleyes.gif

Why do the PTP keep bringing up this "she's a woman" thing. The opposition are attacking her because she's the PM. They are not attacking her because of a supposed sexual meeting at the hotel. They are attacking her because of a secret business meeting at the hotel.

"secret business meeting" Some people have a strange concept of secret.

Did she say why she thinks she lost her job?

How many times has she changed her last name?

She may very well have discussed this with the appropriate government officials. She is not accountable to opinionated hostile foreign guests.

And how would that be, do share, hope you don't mean the paymasters approach of gagging the media, intimidation and suing reporters non stop, and using a government funded media agency to report everything in a light which makes the govenment look good, and non reporting of any other salient details which would have shown all angles of the story / the situation.

One should of course always (always) remember that freedom of the press is on eof the most important pillars of building and maintaining of democracy.

And next, lets all remember that the paymasters / ptp / reds / udd warcry of democracy and justice.

So what's your appraoch, do share.

But I guess there will be no respnse, that wouldn't fit with your perceftion management stuff.

Nobody is suggesting she is accountable to 'opinionated foreign guests.

She is accountable to the public of Thailand, in fact she is an employee of all Thai people, she gets a salary and is expected to act and peform according to the appropriate job description.

And there are those who consider her actions improper.

I agree. It is quite ironic that in this case it is the coup makers who are fighting for democracy, and the ones who have manipulated the electorate that are struggling to impose tyranny.

"Pheu Thai Official Vows to Sue". Are we gonna review the entire Thai political fiasco under this heading.... Again? Again with the red herring?

That would require winning an election, something they have been incapable of accomplishing in recent years...................

Something they have been incapable of doing since 1992.
